NETFLIX sent me Mr. Bean's Holiday and Hot Rod on HD DVD. However, BB sent me Rescue Dawn on Blu-ray as this title was not available in HD through NETFLIX. I still find that NETFLIX is superior to BB but there are exceptions.

the news last night said that netflix was going to have to raise the subscription prices because the US postal service says they have to take extra steps to process the packages. therefore, the USPS is going to raise the postal rate for netflix packages. they also quoted the number of netflix packages processed as a contributing factor. cant remember the number though.

The price of my NETFLIX subscription is still the same and they continue to send me new releases in HD every week. Has anyone else heard about a price increase?

I have a feeling they would suck it up for the already-printed envelopes (either eat the higher postage, or throw them all away), and just put a new package in production for the future. they're not going to raise prices for this. that would extraordinarily foolish, when it can be solved by a redesign.

Sorry, but I also feel the faster they go out of business, the better we will all be.

How funny that I should come across this thread...I just dropped Blockbuster like a bad habit last week because they really let me down...Everything was fine when I was renting SD's from them, but as soon as I went HD, everything went south...

They were taking a week just to send out my movies & even then they weren't sending the right ones...They were saying the movies in my queue were available when they weren't, etc...Just a ton of BS...So they're out & Netflix is back in...

Not a problem yet with Netflix & I don't expect any...I only left Netflix because BB had the option to pick up the movies at the store...Since BB doesn't have HD movies in store, that benefit is gone...

I've had Netflix in the past & they've always been great...I'll be sticking with them for a while...

I have used both BB and NETFLIX and I have found NETFLIX to be superior for many of the reasons you listed.

I received Harry Potter and The Order of the Phoenix yesterday from NETFLIX on HD DVD. I enjoyed the movie and was pleased to receive the movie on the Tuesday of its release.

i just cancelled netflix today. I find that the new release hd movies always have very long waits or long waits. Also, I am in southern california and some hd movies were coming from salem oregon. It took 4-5 days to get movies! i am thinking of going back to blockbuster or possibly just signing up for starz! or something...not 100% sure right now

I've tried both. I used Netflix early on about the time it first came out and liked it. Movies came quick. But that only lasted a year. The movies started taking longer to get once I mailed them in. Switched to bb and realy take advantage of returing in store for free movies. I even get my movies in my queue quicker by this. Recently I've went hddvd and was disappointed by their selection. Was tempted to go back to Netflix. But I've discovered all the titles online through thebb sticky. Just have to see how works out.

I am getting disappointed with my waits on getting HD DVD from NetFlix. Seven out of my top 10 are HD DVD. My top 5 in my queue are all HD DVD. They are: We are Marshall, Knocked Up, Next, Evan Almighty and Transformers. Not exactly your recent releases. It's been 6 weeks since I got an HD DVD.

Of the 12 HD DVD in my queue, seven of the 12 have availability of Long Wait or Very Long Wait.

Didn't vote, but am currently w/ BB. Was w/ Netflix for about a year, but went w/ BB due to the ability to exchage online rentals in store.

Since BB has tightened the belt in regards to in-store swaps, I've considered returning to Netflix, mainly due to it's apparent greater presece/amountof HD DVD titles.

Sounds like folks are having both good & bad luck w/ Netflix & HD titles.

I have had nothing but a good experience with NETFLIX but your experience may depend on your distribution location. I live in Shreveport, Louisiana and most of my movies are mailed from Baton Rouge, Louisiana. I receive new releases in HD from NETFLIX every week. However, I also mail most of my movies back to NETFLIX on Friday to ensure that I the new release of my choice is mailed to me on Monday. I also have used BB and have found the waits and selection to be horrible. I hope you find this thread helpfully.

Oh they both suck now. Netflix is now having the same problem that BB has. They don't have the new releases available for HD-DVD or Blu-Ray. Not the only one complaining about it either.

I have received new releases in HD from NETFLIX every week for over a year. What titles have you not been able to receive from NETFLIX? BB lists most of their new HD releases as coming soon when the title has been out for several weeks if not months.

I was with Netflix off and on for 3 years, when to BB for in-store rentals. I have always found that new releases are not available anyway from either and if I am really excited for a movie I end up buying it or go to BB on tuesdays and rent it in SD. I have seen modified my queue to just HD DVD and Blu Rays not in store.

Figured I'd add in my opinion since I did vote too (I went with Netflix) .. I had numerous issues with Blockbuster, several times they claimed to not receive the DVDs (this was pre my HD DVD) and several times they would ship movie ~30+ on my queue, rather than from the top (numerous times, generally once per week). I figured it was okay, but then after they took away the instore rentals (wasn't grandfathered in, apparently I rent too much) and the slow shipping, I dropped Blockbuster since the value wasn't there due to slow shipping and lack of instore rentals. I figured I'd give Netflix a go, and thus far, I'm pretty satisfied. Their instant viewing is pretty poor, unless you enjoy TV shows (I don't, but its alright since I didn't get it for that) but I can ship my movies out and they're generally received within a day, and sent out immediately. Can't say I'm disappointed at all since its very quick turnaround.

I do have one complaint though, why are their envelopes so bulky? I had to fold over the sides (the parts where the DVD was not) to get it to fit into the mailbox..

Hi I am with Blockbuster now.They allways get me the the new releases on Hd dvd or Blu ray every week.Most of the time I recieve them on Tuesday sometimes it may be Wednesday.I am very happy with them.The instore return helps a lot also.I can return them to the store one day and have another movie ship the next day.My Blockbuter also carries Blu ray so I can usually all ways have a movie on hand to watch.

I`m so tired of netflix policy of sending my next in Que from across the country because its not available locally , Why cant they just send the next one that IS readily available , instead of always making me wait a week while its in the mail.
Blockbuster would just send whats available next day, never these long waits. I think I will cancel Netflix Dec 29 th when my month ends.
Blockbuster doesnt have Star trek HD in stock but hopefully will soon.

That is their policy. They go done your que first and send you what is available in your area first. If they don't find anything they go back to the top of the que and find the next available title where ever that may be.

I would prefer to not have it that way and ship me what is on the top of my que no matter where it is.

I really do like working with Netflix... even was suprised yesterday when it said on my que that HP & OOTP was on a long wait, then around 3pm I got a notice that it had been sent!!!

No complaints so far.

This is not what I have experienced. Like jojo57 said, they always send from the top of the que first which sometime results in discs shipping from more remote locations and takes a lot longer to arrive. I agree with jojo57, I would much prefer they simply skip the title that is not available locally and go to the next one in my que that is. Your stated preference of getting your next in que regardless of location is exactly what jojo57 and I are complaining about. That is the way that we are getting them. Maybe your local Netflix operation has a different policy.

HOLY Crap. I had no idea that many people on here use these services. I've never used either. Actually I just started using the MCDonalds "Red Box" for $1 per day. It's new enough that not many people use it, so the titles I want are usually available.
If I could get Netflix for a better price than currently offered, I would maybe give them a shot.

I'm using both but mainly Netflix for HD and Blockbuster for DVDs (not me) and HD when Netflix doesn't have it available.

When I was with Netflix years ago I had a problem with throttling, I'm watching to make sure they don't start doing it again. I return most movies the next day so I hope they don't try and limit me for watching too many in a month.
