squggly lines with HD Fury on NEC 6PG

The VGA out on the DVD player works well but is a bit soft. The HDFury looks sharp but I get all kinds of squiggly lines disrupting the image. It must be a sync issue. Any thoughts?

I have the following configuration:

Kingwell HD6900i scaling DVD player HDMI out
HDMI to DVI-D adapter cable
HDFury
VGA gender changer
Extron VGA AMP
Coax cables for RGB+Sync (sync on green I think)
NEC 6PG

I have to find a way to test the HDMI to see if it is working properly... but in the mean time any ideas? Should I be using a different sync? It has always worked before?

What is your Extron? Unless it is a 109 I don't see why you need a gender changer.

sync on green is RGsB (3 cables to the PJ), I don't think you are doing this. Do you have 4 (RGBS) or 5 (RGBHV) cables running to the PJ?

Do you have can you borrow another HDMI device to try?

It is an Extron 109 and I am using composite sync. I will try sync on green. I was wondering about this. Thanks for your help.

I was not saying you wanted sync on green, I was asking why you mentioned it and if that was actually the way your were set up. You said you were running RGB+Sync. That means 4 cables to the PJ (which puts the 109 in negative sync mode). Is that what you are running, or when you wrote "+Sync" did you mean plus two sync cables?

The gender changer to the extron should not cause any problems, but if I get a chance this weekend, I'll hook my Fury up that way and let you know the outcome.

OK woops! I have an Extron 105 and the cables are RGBS (where "S" is composite HVsync). I can't get the PJ to recognize the signal with the Sync cable disconnected so I am assuming that there is no sync signal on the green channel, or at least one that the NEC can lock on to.

Could I have a defective HDFury? I have tried all sorts of signals to it (VGA, SVGA, XGA, VIDEO, 1080i, 720P...) nothing but squigglies over top of an image. I have tried adjusting the raster in case there was too much offsetting in the signal.

According to Kingwell tech support the player complies with HDMI version 1.1 if that matters or not.

I doubt it is the Fury, but you can check by connecting it and the Kingwell to a CRT computer monitor.

A 105 only does RGBS negative sync.

Do these look like interference lines?

Why don't you post this in the HKMod forum at Curts.

My guess would be the extron box is causing the problem. Have you tried hooking the hdfury up directly to the projector? If it was me I would take your dvd player and hdmi to dvi cable and hook that up to the furry then with as short of a break out cable as possible hook it up to the projector and see what results you have then.
