I dropped TWC 9 months ago, going with OTA and streaming. Kept a TIVO unit because it is hard to break free of a DVR once you have had one.

For the most part, I don't miss the cable. The few things I do miss can be gotten with some effort. I have a HTPC hooked up, so I can get the USA network dramadies like Psych and Royal Pains. Also have netflix and Amazon streams.

For the most part, I have been disappointed with the channels available on the ROKU. We keep it hooked up, but find we seldom watch it. We also found that HULU+ was not worth the money for us. Most of the stuff we wanted turned out to be "computer only" and not available on plus. The stuff that was on plus was mostly old kids shows and public service stuff.

While I would like to take this time to post a whole host of updates I have absolutely zilch, zip, nada, zero, nothing worthy of posting. I am getting an in-ground sprinkling system. Not HT related nor a DIY project, but a project none the less.

Once we finished the basement we moved on to other projects, none of which seemed AVS worthy. Then we bought a new car, a boat and well other than using the theater we didn't update or change anything. So I understand, it's a little sad, one you get to a stopping point. It's very time consuming for many years, then, nothing but enjoyment. I would almost say the most fun was the research, the build, and you guys, with the actual theater coming in last.

So we bought a new house and I get to start all over on a new theater, and I'm starting to get excited by the idea. smile.gif. Ofcourse we're hemorraging money at the moment so not looking forward to spending even more money...

Well today I had my first experience watching football in the theater and the power going out. I have an APC power conditioner/battery backup so it kicked in and did what it was supposed to do. The power was only off for about 45 sec to a minute, but obviously that would have been enough to possibly do damage to the PJ and other equipment, It actually took me several seconds to actually figure out what in the sam hill happened and by the time I figured out what was going on reacted to it, gathered the remotes to start shutting stuff off the power came back.

To all of those people who think APU/UPS's are overkill I ask you to reconsider your positions and get one to at least power your PJ as the bulb replacement cost could easily pay for some of the more reasonably priced units.

I'm now firmly a believer.

That power outage must have been the result of a disturbance in The Force when Luck & your Colts suddenly awoke from their first half slumber and slayed the mighty Packers! I would consider getting a similar system as yours, but I don't think they sell any that stay on for the several seasons it has taken my Vikes to reboot back into mediocrity!

Yeah, I think there was more than a little "Luck" riding with the Colts yesterday. I was not able to watch the game (DVR'd it and listened to it), but it was a great comeback game. Now that Manning has gone to the Bronco's I now have four favorite teams. The Colt's, the Giants, the Bronco's, and who ever is playing the Patriots! biggrin.gif

OT Non theater update. Many of you will recall this moment when I introduced our new pup to you.

While we were not in any rush to go out and get another dog, I have missed my faithful friend more than I could ever imagined. Well the wife, kids, and I have taken the plunge and have the pleasure of having a new puppy in our midst. After doing some research and phone inquires to several breeders we decided to combine the best of both worlds.


Meet Bella








Bella is a Goldendoodle. Her mom is a Goldendoodle and her dad was a standard poodle er a well you know. She is providing lots of excitement and puppy kisses and yes all those puppy messes such as face plants in the water bowl and those other less fun puppy messes too. Bella has endeared herself to my wife and seemingly have become fast buddies. While Bella has some pretty big paws to fill (and never will and rightfully so) it is nice to have some of that puppy energy infused into the RTROSE household.

Now I have the pleasure to introduce nine new members of the RTROSE house hold (temporarily). Bella is now all grown up and having pups of her own. Here are a couple of pics of the new arrivals who made their appearance on Sunday evening. I won't be a typical grandparent and bore you with all the pictures but here is a couple of the new clan.

So this was the Mrs. idea, as if we did not have enough going on, but they sure are cute. I have to remind myself that we are not keeping any of them, as I look at them and the next one is cuter than the first. So far everything is going extremely well and Bella is a great mom. It will be fun to watch these little guys and gals grow the next 6 to 8 weeks and then go to loving homes.

Haha! I said going into this adventure the one condition was we were not keeping any of the pups. We will see how that pans out. I have already got my favorite. We numbered them first then had the bright idea to name them all, so much for not getting attached to any of them. The good thing is there is a lot of interest in the Goldendoodle breed right now and the dad was a Goldendoodle so they are "full breed" Goldendoodles. We have had a lot of people very interested in the pups. We will see how all this goes.

......I'm also sorry to read of your loss last year, I cant imagine life without our two labs.

One good thing on the HT front is I assume a Poodle doesn't drop as much hair?

Thanks guys! They are growing and gaining weight as they should. Been lots of fun, they have a neat way of showing their appreciation when they are nursing. When they get a good flow of milk their little tails just wag back and forth excitedly. Too funny to watch.

A "Show us your pet's" thread is a pretty good idea as I would guess there are many of us that consider our pets as much as a family member as our spouses and kids. Definitely more family than our in-laws! biggrin.gif I know that Bella considers herself one of the family, that I'm sure of.

I forgot to include a picture of Bella now (pre puppies)
