College? Well, my LSU Tigers lost to Clemson... I'm a graduate from both, but bleed purple and gold.

I can't seem to get anyone together for a Super Bowl party...seeing as how it's late on a work night. Wish they'd change that!

I missed the interview, and the game for that matter. Dang school work gets in the way of all my fun smile.gif

Well, I'm a tiger fan, too; just the Auburn variety. Our season was certainly historic. It got bad enough that I finally started pulling for Bama just to keep the trophy in the state. If you know anything about the Auburn/Alabama rivalry, that speaks volumes for just how bad our team was this year mad.gif

We've been thinking about having some friends over as well, but we've just about decided to end the party at halftime so everyone can get their kids home and in bed. It would be a lot better if it was Super Bowl Saturday, or even just have the game earlier in the day.

Sorry Tony, I missed that interview. I know a little of Gonzales's back story, yup I get ya. There are interesting back stories all over the NFL which is an interesting facet of the sport to know some of the interesting stories behind the players. I guess I'm still a little bitter that "my" teams crapped out so early. mad.gif

I too have often wondered why the "Big Game" is held so late on a Sunday. Most of the SB parties I have been to, the festivities ended at the half so those of us that had school aged children (and wives who were at best only at the party for the "social" aspect) home at a reasonable hour. The timing does not seem to be a problem though as the ratings seem to stay pretty high. I'm sure that the powers to be have looked at all the possibilities and come up with the most profitable arrangement.

Talk about late Super Bowl parties reminds me ... years ago we lived in London, and they aired the Super Bowl live, which meant the game began about 2 am, and went all night. eek.gif

I'm a football fan, but I didn't care about the game enough to do that! I would go for the pre game and duck out well before the kick off.
I never understood why they didn’t at least do a 4:00pm EST start. Still gives west coasters a 1:00pm start which is a common football time. I’d much rather have it on Saturday but if nothing else they need to move it up a few hours.

I’m hoping that because I have a non working theater this year but did have a functional one last year the results of the AFC title game will be different this time.

Hey guys...so a good friend of mine is a director for the networks and there is only one reason why the game is when it is.  THE ADVERTISERS!

They rule....they know you are watching the game no matter what...so if they put it on earlier, too much drinking and partying and no one is watching the ADS.  At the time it is, most people don't party, so they sit on their coach and watch the ADS !

Plus they can have a 6 hour pregame show to fill up with ads.

Yup like I said..........It all comes down to the all mighty dollar. I will say one thing though. The time of the big game has not influenced my indulgence in an adult beverage or two.

I just went back trough your thread and must say that it all came together in the end and it looks fantastic. I'm sure your kids love the hang out spot. smile.gif

Thanks W00lly! I am incredibly happy with how it turned out. It is one of the few things that I have built that turned out as good as or better than what I could have imagined. The boys do like their hangout area for sure, but as all things being equal they use the theater just as much if not more than I do.

Now what? Well there are just a few "little things" I need to do with the theater then I donno maybe a shed build? rolleyes.gif

Shed, deck, patio, kitchen, bathroom, etc.

Let's be honest, you're never cured of the DIY bug. You can cover the symptoms, but eventually you miss the feeling of that power tool in your hand or the drive to the home improvement store everyday. It's a sickness with no cure. biggrin.gif

HAHAHA Austin! Lets go down the list shall we?

Deck.................check
Patio.................check
Kitchen.............check
bathroom..........check, check, and check (I have three bathrooms)
Stairs................check
Shed.................nope so that is where I see myself going in the future on the DIY docket.

You are right about one thing DIY is like an addiction of sorts, there is something about having that power tool in your hand, and then standing back and taking in what you have accomplished.

A new shed it is then.

Just remember, pics or it didn't happen. wink.gif
post #1903 of 2059
I thought all theater builds REQUIRED a shed. You can't call "DONE!" until there is a shed.

Oh, and a fully programmed remote.

I ALREADY have a shed.........I just need a BIGGER shed to put all the stuff in that I can't fit in the basement anymore because of the "finished" theater! eek.gif

I DO need a programmable remote though!

This applies directly to home ownership. There is always something to do or be done. If you start making improvements that highlights something else in the house that needs work. You then work on or improve that item which then highlights something else that needs work then you work on that item which then highli.............Got to stop there so this post will stop. Austin with that you get the idea! ;-)

Then once you are done all your projects the first project you started will be 10+ years old and need to be redone, its a vicious circle.

We have lived in our house now 9 years. We have now improved, renovated, upgraded, replaced, or changed just about everything possible in our home. Just over Christmas we replaced the Stove and refrigerator we bought during the kitchen remodel 8 years ago. Sooooo.............the whole starting over thing is already starting. Mrs RTROSE is now eying the carpet in the family room, and has mentioned some areas where the paint is looking dull, drab, and in need of some attention. Looks like we are just slightly ahead of the 10 year mark.

I will just completely ignore the above comment austin, and pretend that an idea that heinous EVER came out of your head! wink.gif In all honesty, I know I won't live in my current home forever so I have already considered options for the next home centered around the need (or want actually) of having a theater. i just don't want to do that quite yet. Especially since I have not even had a completed (or almost done) theater for a year yet! Now don't you have some homework to do? biggrin.gif

I don't go back to school until the 21st, so I've still got a couple days off. biggrin.gif

I'm just pulling your leg about moving. I certainly can't blame you for wanting to enjoy all the great work that you've done for quite some time. Trust me when I say that it's hard to leave your theater room for extended periods of time throughout the year. I've already started preliminary designs for version 2.0 in my own home someday during my absence from movie watching to make up for it. smile.gif

School starts and Austin disappears. eek.gif Must be doing all that homework. wink.gif

**********PROGRESS......PROGRESS......PROGRESS......PROGRESS**********

To all of you that have "workable", "useable", "finished", or "completed" theaters know that a theater is never really done, but there are usually a lot of small niggly things that need to be done. Piece of trim here, wire management there, acoustic treatments here, carpet, seating, equipment, ya know the little things. Well I am finally starting to tackle those "little things".

I know, I know, it's a stretch to call things like this "progress" but right now it's all I got.

My kitchenette had become the "storage" area for all the tools, extras, and what nots I used for the theater with just about every drawer and cabinet stuffed with odds and ends, wires, tools, cables, and everything but kitchenette stuff. Soooo........I have actually found the proper home for most of the stuff and consolidated other stuff and put all the extra cables, wires, owners manuals all in one drawer to make it handy to access all of that type of stuff. Hey it's a start.

I wonder what else this may motivate me to do. Ahhhhhh the possibilities.

Oh, and I did not think that this was photo worthy "progress".

RTROSE

Go watch a movie! You've earned it! biggrin.gif

HAHAHAHA! Yeah, that's the problem. My motivation has been limited to watching movies here lately, that's why nothing else is getting done. But I guess now that you mention it this "progress" has earned me the privilege of watching a few movies to celebrate my "movement in the right direction". Thanks for bringing that into focus for me buddy. wink.gif

It's funny how those two things go together isn't it? rolleyes.gif

I'm just getting back in the zone. Lots of things going on with classes and clubs starting back up. biggrin.gif

Progress is progress no matter what (just talk to Logan wink.gif). It must be nice to have everything straightened up a little. I still need to do just that in a few places.
Looks like I'll be doing the same thing this weekend. last weekend I got rid of two bags of trash and two boxes of recycling so that I can at least see the top of the bar. This weekend I need to clean up all the little bits of wire, faceplates, screws, scraps of wood (you know, in case I need a spacer or something), etc so that I can actually start sanding the woodwork for the bar.

Yes, little Grasshopper; progress IS progress.

Well thought I would come here and drown my sorrows. I was doing some demoing in the theater watching the AVS Demo Disc 2 by Scubasteve and was going between How to Train Your Dragon, Cloverfield, and WOW, I normally do my demoing at -19 or -18 (Yamaha Aventage 1010) and tonight I was listening watching at -14 or -13.5. About half way through the WOW demo I noticed the lack of the sub. I stopped the clip and heard a loud humming coming from the sub and then I could smell an "electrical" type of smell. frown.gif I quickly unplugged the sub to eliminate anything else going wrong/bad. I then called Rythmik to see what had happened. Brian (Rythmik sub guru) actually answered the phone (how's that for CS) and I described my tale of woe to him. He requested I send off an email to him and I included a few photos of the amp to show how it was set up. He said he would take a look at everything and see what he could come up with and would provide some suggestions on how to check to see if it is the amp or speaker driver. So as soon as I hear back Brian I'll keep all of you updated.

Sitting here in a puddle of my own tears...........lonely and subless. The horror of it all........................

I never realized how empty the world feels without LFE redface.gif

RTROSE,

You need to tell your wife that this is EXACTLY why you need that second sub - so that you will never be without LFE again if something happens to one of them.

Noooooooooooooooooo!

I hope everything's ok & it's a cheap fix!
RT, Hope it all works itself out quickly for you.
RT! Don't be a glass half empty kind of guy....be a glass half-full guy and know that this is the universe telling you to upgrade your sub and perhaps even get a matching twin!!!

If I were you I would play it safe and just go buy two Velodyne DD-18+ subwoofers just to make sure you are not upsetting the universe with the good fortune of your Rhythmik subwoofer failure!!smile.gif
