Amp for B&W 805s?

What amplifier (intergrated or separates) do you recommend for use with a pair of B&W 805s? I'm agonizing among:

(1) Rotel RC-1082 pre-amp with RB-1072 amp
(2) Rotel RC-1082 pre-amp with RB-1070 amp
(3) McIntosh MA-6500

I realize there's a significant price difference between the Rotels and the McIntosh. Plan to stop by my local dealer this weekend to see if the improvement, if any, is worth the cost.

Thoughts from anyone who's heard these amp/speaker pairings would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

My brother and I have 805 Matrix speakers and after testing with several amps we both ended using Crown XLS602D (fan noise and all). imho, some of the amps we have tested are better than those Rotels.

The McIntosh I don't know.

Well, the McIntosh wins hands down in my opinion, but if you want to go with Rotel (and Rotel sounds pretty good with B&W) I would look at the RC-1082 with the RB-1080 amp over the 1070 or 1072. You could also look at the Musical Fidelity A5 integrated as a price point between the Rotel and the McIntosh that would do those speakers justice.

That's not even a competition, lol. Mc. in a walk. I'd speculate that the Rotel + B&W combo would be quite fatiguing for certain music genres. To be fair the Rotel is a decent value. Listen and then decide for yourself.
