Wanted to get the Pro 1000 sub, but didn't have enough money.

Center speaker comes in on the 19th, and I'll have my new TV stand on the 16th.

I have all the wood to make the 10 foot floating shelf/ fire place mantle for the suround and suround back speakers, just waiting for my buddy to help build it, he has all the cool tools.

Great news can't wait ti hear your first thoughts about the sound

I got the front L/R speakers mounted and up and running lastnight, I mounted them a little on the high side at 5ft. but they sound very good. My polk rear bookshelfs sound a little more full, but thats probably cause of the bass reflex port.

The difference is very little, and I think once the Pro 1000's are broke in, they will be a little more full sounding.

My center should be in today, and I talked to my buddy lastnight, he is supposed to be working a short day today, and we can get working on the shelf when he gets home, should only take a couple hours to build.

Then all I need is speaker wire and to relocate my sub to the front.

Will post pics when finished, and give a sound report. I don't have many blu ray's, but can't wait to pop in Iron Man 2 and listen to it in DTS

Hi, I am new to the forum and glad there is one for the DT procinema line as I am in the market for the Procinema 1000 with PC2000. Does anyone know of current deals on them? I checked ABT as I have seen it mentioned in here but they are selling pretty much at MSRP. I am not i a hurry as I am also waiting on a deal for the 65VT30

Thanks

You'll have to call around, but consider bajawaverunner on ebay he sell refurb's but they are a very good deal and well worth checking him out. if you don't mind white PM1000 they are selling for $140, black will cost 180 each

Thanks for the reply. I am leaning on new ones and did some googling and found a website speakersandsubs.com that sells Promonitor 1000 for $195 and Procenter 2000 for $299. I inquired through email and they stated they are brand new and that everyting they sell are brand new.

return policy just states to ensure you have your receipt and that shipping expenses are not refundable but there seems to be no restoking fee.

have you heard of this website or know of anyone who has purchased from them?
Thanks

Hello everyone, im new to this forum and to home theater in general. I just recently purchased this 5.1 speaker setup, Def Tech Pro center 1000, 4 pro monitor 800's & pro sub 800, Connected to an Onkyo TX-NR609 receiver. I have it all setup in a relatively small space (a spare bedroom, measuring about 13L x 14). I used the Audyssey calibration to set it up, and everything sounds pretty good but i notice the center channel volume seems to be low. Anyone have any recommendations on setup? Ive looked at the settings on the receiver and im not sure what a setting is for each area, Center, Front, Surround & sub, what frequency they should be set at etc. My main use is Movies , with alittle gaming and music thrown in. Im combing the web for info, but i figured i would ask here, maybe someone can point me in the right direction.

Hi I have the Procinema 800 was wondering what size speaker wire I should use? My receiver is Pioneer Elite S-35. My surrounds will be wall mounted needing aprox. 40' of wire. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I have been running the Pro Cinema 800 (1000 center and 4 800's with an SVS PB-12+ sub) for several years now. I use 16 gauge monster speaker wire and have 3 runs of about 30 feet the others 2 runs are about 15 feet. They sound great and have had no trouble in 5 years.

I really want a 800 set up to go with my Denon 1909. I am hoping I get a few $ after we do our taxes to go towards them. I seem to remember some talk in this thread about some different Def tech speakers that make good rears. I know that might be vague but does anyone know which models were recommended?

With as little $ as I'll probably have to look at some refurnished ones. I know I have also heard talk about them here. Anyone actually got some and are satisfied with them?

I just recently purchsed (4) 800 Pro Monitors , Pro Center 1000, Pro Sub 800, Onkyo TX-NR609 receiver and i love them, given i dont really have much exprience as this is my first 5.1 system i pieced together, i upgraded from one of the Onkyo Home Theater in a Box setups and i thought that sounded good until i got these. I spent $119+Tax each for the Monitors, $179+Tax for the center & $249+Tax for the sub at a local retailer here in seattle area. That came in at around $1000 exactly, just looking around that seemed to be a pretty good deal for the speakers. Im sure with alittle looking you may be able to even get it cheaper.

I took the chance by ordering a refurbished cinema pro 800 set from bajawaverunner. I am very happy with the results. Considering the price I paid and the deal I got from Electronics Expo on the Denon 2112ci, I got the whole setup for what I expected to pay for just the speakers. Now I can't wait for the new house to be ready so I can set everything up right.

Just testing the speakers using the fronts, center an sub they sounded great!

That's the ebay user recommended here but I haven't really seen ny actual replies on members that purchased from him.

So, everything looks good/new? I see he has a "sale" now. Is that what you paid (if you don't mind me asking)? Just curious if he often has a sale because I won't be ready to buy for a few more weeks.

you can PM me if you'd rather not discuss in this thread.

Thanks.

Yes, everything looks great. If I look close I can see minor evidence on one speaker that it was taken apart, but It was stated that they are factory refurbished. I knew that going in. They arrived within his estimated delivery window.

I just missed the current 5% off sale by about a week, so my price on the set was $700, free shipping. I have tested out all of the speakers and they sound great, no issues. If I remember correctly, bajawaverunner offers a 90 day exchange if they do not function or match the description. That was one of the deciding factors for me, especially taking the chance on refurbished speakers.

thanks for the info. I really would like to do this but the "boss" isn't interested right now. Something about kids and disney.

I'm gonna keep at it though and I do have a bday coming up in april.

So, does anyone know how often baja has these sales?

Hehe, I can see that as being an issue. I've been testing mine out and my Wife came downstairs and said the sub works. She could hear it in the shower!

Interesting. Curious as to why you went with four rear surrounds?

Surround and surround back. I have 7.1, but can't put my surrounds on the side so they have to go in the rear.

Just got done watching Avatar on Blu-Ray in DTS and it sounded amazing.

The Def Techs preform very well with the VSX-1121-K, and the Klipsch sub.

Can't wait to get them broke in

Congratulations on your purchase! I was looking at that ebay seller as well but did find a website called speakersandsubs.com that was selling new def tech pro monitor speakers for the same amount as the refurbshed ones listed there.

I would like to get new ones if the price is same but not sure about that website as no one has provided feedback here yet.

Is it normal that my pro800 sub stays on long after my receiver is turned off?

Yeah, it's 15 to 30 minutes before it turns off

So far so good.
The 6 Pro 1000's and CS-8040HD Center sound great with the VSX-1121-K

I've watched Avatar, and Master and Commander in Blu-Ray DTS Master Audio, all different kinds of music, and they perform very well, and they are still breaking in.

I am not sure if this is the correct forum for this and I cannot seem to find one dedicated for it but I am looking to order cables from monoprice and I need to get recommendations on what to get. Here is what I eventually will end up with (only have the plasma and blu ray currently). I will not be mounting on wall and just place on a Zline Sync Stand with speakers on and beside it

65vt30 plasma
panasonic blu ray
denon 2112ci
verizon motorola box
DT pro monitor 1000
DT Procenter 2000
DT Prosub 1000 r maybe HSU VTF-2

I currently do not have any and just running some slides on TV using USB as per recommendation from the VT30 forum.

Thanks in advance
I ran 12g wire for all my speakers, and make sure you get a good shielded cable for your sub
post #5850 of 6423
Would it be ok to use 14awg wire for my back speakers(aprox 30' from receiver) and 16awg for my R/C/L?
