Why not go for the ProCenter 2000? I love mine with the ProMonitor 1000's!

Because I already own Mythos three, has a chance to get the promonito 1000

I have the Denon 1911 with the 600 series.

I recently picked up some BP7006 tower speakers, but after the setup, I feel like the smaller 600 series were a bit cleaner on movies?

I guess quality wise my question is, besides obvious loud sound....with regards to movies, how do the 7006 stack up to the 600 series.
I realize the towers are larger, but I'm more interested in people's opinions in the sound Quality. I can always calibrate a 3rd time, as I've done it twice, but I wanted feedback.

For the record, the pro cinema series 600 comes with a nice sub, so I turned the subwoofers dial to 0 on each tower, and am essentially using the towers as for mids/highs (no bass), and using my sub 600 for bass instead.

I have my Denon AVR set to smalls as well.

Hi Pat, yes, that will be a nice match. We strive to use similar tweeter technology all through the line, so that you can mix and match as you wish. Good luck and let us know how it sounds - best, Joe

Need some help with my ProCinema 600 setup. Ive got it hooked up to my Denon AVR 1911 and ran the audyssey auto setup. The problem is when i play a movie (Blu ray through PS3) , the sound is very very muffled. Its hard to understand dialogue because of it. But when watching TV (Uverse), everything sounds fine. Im not sure if it has anything to do with movies being in surround sound, but ive tried all the different surround sound settings on the receiver and nothing seems to make it better. I'm no expert in home audio, but what i think might be contributing to the muffled sound is that the subwoofer is trying to put out dialogue and that is making it very muddy sounding. I have the crossover and gain on the SW cranked because that is what the Denon AVR 1911 manual said to leave it as when running the audyssey setup. Does the AVR auto setup the crossover freq as well? Can anybody help please.

I'm guessing maybe you left the cap on the mic?

Also, what modes are you using on the AVR 1911?

You will get a lot of answers in the denon thread as well.

Hi S281,

If you have not found a solution by now, I want to start with the basics. While the crossover on the sub should be "cranked/turned up as high as it goes", the gain should not be. It's recommended you start with the gain at 12o'clock/half way up prior to running Audyssey calibration. Most of the time I use Audyssey Dynamic Volume on my Denon to help keep the sound level and dialog easy to understand. I recommend people download and read the word document here. Without it reading it, Audyssey can be a bit tricky to calibrate IMHO. And yes the avr sets the crossover frequency during calibration and no subs should not be playing dialog through them.

Hope this helps.

Hello, new to this forum and need advice. I just purchased a yamaha rx-a820 receiver. I am now looking at speakers. I went to bestbuy and listened to, and am considering between, energy & def tech speakers. My room is a den, 13x14 with 8 ft ceiling. My viewing distance is about 10 ft from my tv. I am looking at the def tech 1000 center L&R fronts, 800 rears, and the 800 sub. The energy's are the cb10s front, cb5s rear, esw-c8 sub, and either the cc10 or 5 center. I like the sound of the def tech better, but the energy's do not sound that bad either & are a littler more affordable. I am trying to keep the cost at about $1,400 or less. I am open for suggestions as well, but am leaning toward the def tech I spelled out above. Thoughts? Thanks

Refresh,

I had the 1000's set since 2007. They are absolutely solid speakers and well worth the money. I just upgraded to the floor standing towers and the bipolar 8040's because I moved and am now in a much better room. You can't go wrong with Def Tech stuff, it's rock solid and it's worth the money you pay. Don't rush into any purchases cause you can't afford what you really want. I held out longer and got the 1000's left, right, center, backs and couldn't be more happier. At around $219 a pop... best buy always running there 18-36 month financing on the best buy card... it's worth getting.

Amen to this! Def Techs scale VERY well, so more money put into them yields you a noticeable improvement every time from my experience! Save your money and go bigger with Def Tech! You will not be disappointed!

Hi! I've got a dedicated home theater room being built out of part of what used to be my "man cave." The completed room will be 10 x 19 with 8 1/2 foot ceilings and I am using a 119" Diagonal Dalite Cinema Contour High Contrast CinemaVision fixed screen. This leaves me with tight room for speakers basically only 5" on either side of the screen. My previous speakers featured a front stage of three JBL 8340a professional cinema speakers ceiling mounted but pointed down to the listening position and 4 JBL Control 1 surrounds and I'm using a Boston Acoustics HPS 12HO Subwoofer. I can't both install a ceiling and use the 8340's so I had to go with something different and I went with Definitive Technology. I have on the way 2 Promonitor 800's 1 Procenter 1000 and 2 Promonitor 600's for surrounds. I would probably not have chosen the 600's on my own except they were part of a deal too good to pass up.

I have the ability to do 7.1 with my Harman Kardon AVR 2600. This leaves me with a few of choices to finish the set:

1. Buy two more 800's for main surrounds and use the 600's for back surrounds.

2. I read some earlier posts of people using 3 Procenter 1000's as a front stage, and I thought about buying 2 PC1000's and using the 800's as main surrounds and 600's for the rears. (I imagine this would give me the fullest sounding front stage but I might be wrong.)

3. I have found some good deals on old Promonitor 60's and I could least expensively buy a pair of PM 60's and use the 600's as main surrounds and 60's as rear surrounds. Would they match ok timbrally?

I had thought about getting PC2000's as a front stage but I don't quite have room to mount 3. It's really a tight fit .smile.gif

Hey, thanks for the responses. After reading more on here I'm wondering something else. Are the Studio 55's better that the PM1000's and are they overboard for my reciver? I want speakers that will satisfy both movies and music (mostly alternative/pop/hip hop) and sound loud and clean.

Hello Refresh, we have gotten some amazing reviews on the SM 55, the most recent being on C Net from Steve Guttenberg. It's a physically larger speaker, but certainly not a huge cabinet. If it can fit your home, it will sound better, no question, and is not at all out or your receiver's reach. I hope this helps. Yes - spending a little extra money for something you like better is a good idea, considering that you will probably own them for the next 20 years or so!
Also, several of you have asked about reviews on the SM 65. Audioholics has posted a video review of the SM 65 that is a really good example of someone digging into the product - and being thrilled with what they found. http://www.google.com/url?sa=X&q=http://www.youtube.com/watch%3Fv%3DBOuirxeSRWY&ct=ga&cad=CAcQAhgAIAEoBDACOAFAuvzVgAVIAVgAYgVlbi1VUw&cd=xna-qMhhuaE&usg=AFQjCNHw8o43vxt8XiD0iNw0ivurkSZW2Q

Hello Bill, based on what you wrote, I suggest option #2. The physics of the situation favor a slightly larger, but still compact, speaker like the 1000's. You'll get better midrange, not just better bass, and as you suggest the most full sound stage. The PM 60 is a good speaker, but will get outstripped pretty fast by the better products you have put in your system. I hope this helps, and thanks for building a DT system - best, Joe

Hey Joe,

Would you recommend 3 PC1000 over 1 PC1000 and 2 PM1000s ? And are there any issues with mounting the PC1000s vertically ?

Thanks,

Chris
If you're looking at the PM 1000's they mate best with the PC 2000. That way they all have the same size woofer. (The PC1000 is the standard Center for the ProCinema 800 set and has the same size woofer as the PM800's. The standard Center for the ProCinema 1000 is the PC2000 as once again they share the same woofer size.)

I would imagine the PM1000's coupled with a PC2000 would make a better front stage than three PC1000's. Three PC1000's is all I have room for in my theater room and budget and I'm quite satisfied they'll sound amazing. But that's taking in to account my budget and room limitations. Now going for 3 PC2000's sounds like a mighty exciting frontstage! cool.gif

What is the size of your room? Is there any restriction as to the size of the speaker? What is your budget?

Hello all! Well, I went to best buy and listened to the sm55's and was not happy with their sound vs the pm1000's. So, I'm going with 4 pm1000's and a pc2000. I need to pick a sub that will match up good with these speakers and want to know what you think. Either the def tech pro1000 sub or the mirage omni series 10. Any feedback would be appreciated and as I mentioned before, my room size is about 13x14x8 on tile floors. Thanks!

I currently have the Definitive Pro Cinema 600. I am moving soon and need some help. The place I am moving to has the TV above the fire place. The fire place is all brick for two stories. I am trying to avoid having wires everywhere and looking into a sound bar. I am looking into the Definitive Technology XTR-SSA3. The house has built in speakers in the rear but not the front. It also has a hidden plug for a subwoofer.

My main question is: "Can I use the Pro Cinema 600 Subwoofer and just plug in wall for electric and plug in wall into the subwoofer outlet?" Currently I have my front speakers wired into my sub then sub into the receiver.

The reason I am thinking of getting the Definitive Technology SSA3 is because I already have two speakers in the rear so I do not need a sound bar that produces 5.1. I need a sound bar to produce front sound and use my rear speakers for the rest.

Next question... does anyone know if I can use a sound bar speaker mount with the SSA3. I'm really trying to hide all the wires. My house is set up for Control4 and all my wires are led into the basement.

Please help

Thank you.

Hello Refresh, we sell loads of ProSub 1000 and I love it. If size matters and you can afford the extra $100, you might check out the SuperCube 2000. That one's a home run for it's size and performance. I hope this helps - best, Joe

Hello DH, if you can, find out from the previous owner where that hidden subwoofer plug connects to. You should be able to run the sub wire into your receiver, and use the front LCR speaker wires from your receiver to the SSA-3. It's a great product and we designed it for applications like yours. Regarding the sound bar mount, the SSA-3 does include a simple wall mount bracket, but I assume you can't drill into the brick fireplace. If you have questions about a specific mount from someone like Chief or Sanus, let us know. Enjoy - best, Joe

Hi Chris, it's OK to wall mount the PC 1000 vertically. The PC 1000 and PM 1000 sell for the same money, but as Bill notes, the PM has a larger (5 1/4) woofer vs the twin 4 1/2 in the PC 1000. It's OK to mix and match depending on what fits your wall / cabinet and your budget. Personally I would go with 2 PM 1000 and one PC 1000. Or, if it can work in your budget, spend the extra $130 and get a PC 2000 for the center. I hope this helps - best, Joe

Hello Refresh, I checked out www.sanus.com and found lots of different stand types, with plenty of pictures etc.
For tech support, you can either call 1-800-359-5520 opt 1 or e-mail your questions to info@sanus.com.
I hope this helps - Best, Joe

Thanks again Joe! Yeah, I saw someone else had that brand for my speaker model back a few pages in this thread. I will hopefully have my speakers by this weekend and will decide on the stands once I know for sure that I will be keeping them. I will update when I get everything up and running.
