If you need stands for your 60 check out bajawaverunner's store on ebay. They've got silver 60/80 stands for $30 shipped. I picked up a set last week and spray painted them black. Looks great and having the speakers up at ear level vs where they were on the TV stand really helped improve the sound.

Baja is DefTech's refurb/outlet store. Highly recommend.

I just received the Procinema 60.6 in the mail hooked it all up using method 1 with the two fronts going through the Sub and an RCA cable going from Subwoofer on back of my Denon 1612 to LFE on back of the sub. No sound from sub. Nothing. All other speakers work fine. Red light that is suppose to come on when it detects a 'signal' just stays on even after I unplug the sub and plug it back in. When I run Audyssey the setup does not detect my sub... Did I get a bad subwoofer or is there a certain setting that will turn this thing on?? It's very fustrating spending money like this and getting something that doesn't work properly. What should I do?

1 – maybe
2 – no
Got my procin 60 from newegg and it arrived in perfect condition. Try checking and re-checking your connections. Do you hear a loud thump/buzz/hum (or any noise) when you plug the power cord in or when you connect the sub cable? Also, try plugging the sub’s power directly into the wall. Have you contacted tech support?
I would suggest trying Method 1 by itself, first, making absolutely sure the AVR setting for the front L/R speakers is "large."

Then try Method 2 (LFE Out) by itself, making sure the speaker setting for all speakers is "small" and subwoofer is set to "yes."

If you get no bass either way, there's a defect. Call DefTech tech support who will help you determine this for sure, and advise you on your options.

I am sorry to hear this JRob, but glad that you called tech support and we're moving toward a solution. Best, Joe

I have PC 800s for rears and have PC 1000s on the way for L&R. Given the space I have for my center channel (contained in the front of a corner tv stand) should I opt for a ProCinema 100 instead of the 1000? It appears that the 100 does not have the side radiators. In concerned less about losing the benefit of the side radiators and more about the negative effect on sound dye to placement in my situation.

I have a similar post in this thread a couple months back and apologize if I'm coming off repetitive. At the time of that post I didn't have any DT equipment.

Is there any other real difference besides the side radiators when comparing the center 100 vs 1000?

Hi Six, I'd stick with the PC 1000. It's a better product, and voices will sound more natural with it. True, it won't sound quite as good as if you had it in a more free-standing space, but that can be said of all speakers that are somewhat concealed in a cabinet, not just the PC 1000. The center is after all the most important HT speaker. Enjoy! Best, Joe

Hey everyone my basement is finally at a place where im reading to hang my pro cinema 600s...i am trying to lay out the gang boxes for the speaker wire and running into some questions. The biggest one being i bought pro mount 90 mounts but cant decide if they are going to work on the ceiling or if i need to move the mounts to the wall...

If i leave them on the ceiling the speaker would have to be mounted upside down or sideways, would this matter?

Also i bought a 65" panasonic that is going to be mounted. I am trying to decide between ceiling mounting the center channel or just using the tv credenza which would only be about 24" - 36" off the ground. I thought about mounting it below the tv but im not crazy about having a plate in the middle of that wall if we ever decide to rearrange things...

Finally, for those who have finished their basements...whats the secret to peace of mind that everything ia going to work once the dry wall is up? Im worried i will have done all of this wiring only to have the dry wallers nail through a cable and cause me to go nuts!! Any tips??

So I'm in the market for a decent system and I have my heart set on two systems now, the Def Tech pc60.6 and the Martin logan mlt-2. Which ones should I go with? I recently listened to the PC 600's at Best buy and loved them. Do the PC60.6 sound similar? I'm kinda on a budget that's why I haven't purchased the 600 and why I'm looking at the 60.6 and the mlt-2's

I think it's probably safe to say they sound "similar," based on what I've read. There may not be very many people who don't work at DT who've heard both systems set up in the same room who can make a, um, definitive comparison.

Also safe to say the 60.6 doesn't play quite as loud or dig quite as deep, and is based on older DT driver technology than the 600.

But finally, safe to say that at the prices Newegg charges for this system it would be hard to get into a full-range 5.1 setup that truly qualifies as "hi fidelity" for less money.

But this is all inference. I have not heard the 60.6. I have heard the 600, a system that is very competetive in its class but which like any such small system needs to be used in an appropriately-sized room and not pushed beyond its capabiities.

Whiteshadow001 – I choose the ProCin 60 over the MLT-2 for a few reasons:

1) this thread was more active and informative than any MLT-2 I’ve found.
2) ML makes great mid to high end speakers, but IIRC the MLT-2s aren’t “true” MLs. I believe they’re rebadged.
3) The upgrade path was clearer for me with the DefTechs – eventually I could use the L/R PM60 as rears in a 7.1 and add PM800s as L/R with a PC1000. Yes, the rear and sides don’t have to match, but I’m sort of OCD/anal retentive…
4) I heard the PM800s and was really impressed with their sound. The 60.6 system was a blind (or would it be a deaf?) buy for me. It’s a huge improvement over the HTiB I was running, specifically watching movies.

I have a large, open-concept floor plan and the sub is under powered for the room, but for the price I paid for the system I’m happy with its performance.

Why would you want to ceiling mount them? If you can get the L/C/R at ear level that’s the best option; the sides can be placed a little higher.

This should help with placement:

I ordered the Procinema 60's from newegg real early in the morning last Monday and had them at my door the next day, free shipping! Everything worked no issues with the sub or speakers. Can't be beat them for such a low price, perfect for my bedroom.

Thanks for the heads up! I ordered a pair and will also be painting them black.

Anyone using the ProCinema 60 as computer speakers? I had some Klipsch Promedia 2.1, but moved them to my daughter's computer and in the need of some replacements. They will be used about 60%music, 30% gaming, and 10% movies. Power will be by a Sony STR-DA50ES, so theres plenty of juice. Thanks!

Besides being 5.1 instead of 2.1, these are not powered speakers (except for the sub). You need an AV receiver or 5-channel amp to drive them. Aside from all that, I'm sure they'd rock with a computer used for watching movies and other multichannel content.

I have done some digging on the rebadging of the ML's and come to find out they are rebadged Paradigm Ct-90 speakers. They apparently are very good in quality. My question to you is, will the PC 60's fill a room comparable to the magnolia home theater room?
I think they’ll perform well in that size of a room (and every speaker will sound better in a treated room vs a non-treated room) but it’s really subjective and relative to what you’re comparing them to and what you’re coming from. Again, for the price I got them for and what I was expecting them to do - they did.

Don’t get analysis paralysis… you may just have to do what I did after researching for weeks… buy one and hope you like it.

I need help with my Prosub 60. it turns off all the time while listening and its a little annoying. it seems the sub wants to determine whats loud enough for it to stay activated, and not me. sure, if I have the volume way up it stays on, but I thought it was activated just by signal (not signal intensity)

I have turned the bass boost on my AV receiver up some, but still no luck. I'm assuming I just have to deal with it? if I turn the volume up some after it goes off, it turns back on every time. I just wish it were more sensitive

I noticed that too when I first set up my system using only the LFE and prior to running Audyssey. After hooking up the sub via option 1 w/ LFE and post-Audyssey the auto-on works fine.

Have you tried different connection methods, etc?
have not tried that, just using the 1 LFE right now. wanted to keep it that way, but I'm willing to use speaker-level inputs if it corrects it. thanks

Did you try the obvious measure of turning down the level on the sub itself and turning up the subwoofer channel level on the AVR?

that fixed it! smile.gif

using the speaker level inputs & LFE now. I listened for an hour at lower volume and the sub did not turn off. before I think it was turning off every 20mins or so

thanks a lot! I must have adjusted the volume to kick the sub back on 100+ times before

when I was using just the LFE, I had the sub level turned up all the way on the av receiver with no luck

Joe - can you briefly compare the PC 100 to the PC1000?

Thanks
Dave
My Pro Sub 800 is listed on the website as a 300W sub. However, it shows 375W on the sticker on the back of the sub.

Anybody know why the difference? Did they upgrade the sub and forget to update the website?
The 375W figure might be max power consumption.

ya, my prosub 60 says "350 watts" on the back but the amp is rated at 150. must be RMS/peak I'm assuming

Not Joe, but the 1000 has the updated drivers and adds passive radiators so you'll probably get better mid-range out of the 1000 over the 100. Other specs looked similar to me when I was researching.
