Otherwise, by changing two variables at once, you won't know where the improvement really came from.
Knowing that you have a real listening room is a relief! I was feeling really bad for you.
I do like the Energys, but unfortunately I can't use them the way I want in my application unless I keep them in the cresenza cubbyholes. If I tried the Energys on top, it wouldn't matter because, I couldn't leave them up top since they would block the infrared sensor on the display, and they cannot be mounted on the wall due to the rear port and the depth of the speaker.
So it's either find a speaker I like that I can wall mount, or leave things as is.
If the fact that the speakers sound better only because they are outside the cubbys and not due to different brand of speakers, is a mute point.
So I will try the DTS PM1000s, and if they don't provide enough improvement, I will switch back to the Energys and return the DTs to Amazon, or sell them. I only spent $113 ea for them, so there isnt a big financial risk?
I have a mini mancave for critical viewing and a better soundstage, along with bass shakers, so it's not the end of the world if I have to leave things as is.
