Portable A/V with Native Divx and Native Mp3 playback?

What portable Mp3 players with at least 30GB support native Mp3 playback without doing their stupid conversions like Ipod and Zune does. When you burn a Data CD with high quality variable bit rates in the 256 to 300 rate I want to be able to hear it playback at the same bitrate with no conversions, no Itunes, no WMA meddling with it.

What's a list of portable players that can do that? And are thee any that can support Native Divx playback? I don't get why this hasn't been done from the beginning. Seems every company insists on converting your music and video to their format before you can play it back.

I been looking at a few players like Sony NWHD3 but the prices are absurd.

I don't understand why a Tvisto only costs $200 with 320GB capacity which plays Mp3 music and divx natively directly to your TV. If that gadget could work like an Ipod with a little screen to boot, make it smaller and less storage it would be the perfect IPOD killer. Is there any new gadget that maybe exists like this that I haven't heard of yet?

I'm looking for a $220 or less portable native Mp3 player with 30GB that I can plug into my Zvox to enhance the sound. And if this can support native Divx playback, the better.

Okay so I've narrowed this down to a few mp3 players while I patiently wait for a reply here.

Here's what I got:

Aigo STP802 80GB MP3 MP4 FM DivX LCD Media Player $549.77

Archos 404 30GB Portable Digital Media Player brand new $250.00

NEW COWON JETAUDIO IAUDIO A2 WHITE 30GB MP3 PLAYER $309.00

These all seem to have native Mp3 and Divx playback with no silly conversions. Why the hell doesn't apple do this for the same price is beyond me. I could give a siht for Itunes, Rhapsody, or any paid subscriptions services when I can get it all with torrents better quality and better faster distribution system.

So anyone got some more Mp3 players to add to the list? Seriously Ipod stinks, man. 128kb/s compressions and forced to use Itunes software and be bombarded with subscription services you got to be kidding. Plus no Native Divx. Hours spent compressing files so that it can play them.

I can drag and drop most divx files and they are playable on my creative zen vision w. Same for mp3. However, when you say "native" divx...it can be anything. There are a million ways to encode things in divx and I can guarantee that you will find players that won't play certain divx files no matter what you do, unless the player is a high end pc.

When I say native Divx I'm referring to popular official release Divx/Xvid torrent dvdrips.

Can you drag and drop these into your Creative Zen and it will play without converting it? What about output to TV? What resolution would this output at? What about Srt subtitle support?

Also the Mp3 music does it compress it all? try to convert it into its own format, or just play it back natively at the Mp3 bitrate it was recorded with? If it was recorded at variable bit rate will I hear it played back at that bit rate or crappy 128bps like Ipod does.

When I insert my USB thumb drive directly into the USB port of my Car radio it will play Mp3 music back at the bitrate it was recorded with, and will also play the Divx files directly off the USB drive onto it's LCD screen. Can creative Zen do the same? No conversions. No meddling with the original source.

Example divx stats below: Would it play this Divx natively or does it require software to convert it like Ipod does.

Video Codec.: XViD Runtime.......: 143 mins
Video Format: 2Pass 905kb/s
Audio Codec.: AC3 Disks.........: 2CD 98x15mb
Audio Format: 448bps
Aspect Ratio: 2.35:1
Frame Size..: 576x240

I'm basically looking for a Tvisto with an incorporated LCD screen for around the same price as a Tvisto. Why the hell doesn't this kind of Mp3 player exist? What's wrong with these people and the crap we are expected to pay for. They should release these features for a low price straight from the start and dominate the market instead of having to wait 2 years before everything comes down in price.

I can drag and drop into my zen just fine. No srt support which is a major downside for me also. It has a tv output via composite, so it's limited to only 480i. I've never had to convert any mp3s and I'm sure I have most variations out there. I don't think it does AC3 though, it plays divx using mp3 sound (most divx movies under 700mb seem to use mp3 sound). The non support for srt and ac3 sound may be the dealbreaker for you though. Unfortunately, from what I've seen, I don't think there's a perfect player out there yet. Sometimes I feel it may just be worth it to get something like an UMPC (ultra mobile pc) that's the size of portable media players and just spend a little bit more to get it. You should also check out the 5th generation archos players that are coming out soon (x05 models like the 604), they may work better (higher resolution lcd also). Also look into Windows CE devices like the meizu m8 (aka the iphone clone that runs on win ce). However the players by archos and cowon are popular.

A good resource for portable media player news is www.dapreview.net.

Thanks. Wow that link you put there for dapreview had three trojans on its site. Luckily my Nod 32 antivirus protected me from it. I was looking at Cowon and Archos seemed to be the best options. But the best option is the Tvisto if only they made it with a little LCD screen too, and gave a little Ipod music category interface it would be the best portable mp3/divx player out there with 720p output support and for less than a Cowon or Archos.

I don't meet your conversion requirement or GB built in but with a quick 3 minute conversion (1 hour show) from my downloads file using an easy drag and drop...every file works in my $180 ($140 plus $40 2 GB RS-MMC) Nokia 770. Using Media Converter it is actually fairly simple AND FAST and the screen on the 770 is real nice as is the price. I too looked for a media player for the right price and nice screen AND small but couldn't find the right mix. You could also probably write a script to drop all your downloads into Media converter and keep them in a file...ready for tranfer.

2GB for memory would be a big bottleneck for me. The nokia n800 would be a better option as it supports SD cards up to 8gb, and it has two SD slots, meaning you can have upwards of 16GB of storage.

The iAudio A2, the ZVM and W, and the Archos 604 are all good choices for Xvid/Dvix MP3 playback support. Neither the iPoo nor the Zune support the Xvid/dvix formats. iPoo only supports AAC, and Zune only supports WMV; what else would you expect from Apple and MS respectively
