Cablevision HDTV - Page 2

VOOM HD in DirecTV is something that has been discussed many times in these hallways. Us, the freelancers (since I cannot speak officially for VOOMHD), have always seen VOOMHD as another HBO, STARZ, etc. So we would be delighted to be on DirecTV, however, now with the CV deal, who knows. I used to be a DirecTV customer from the moment they went on the air. I was also one of the first DirecTV HD users. I finally gave up DirecTV for Verizon FIOS and have not looked back. Once, when DirecTV called me in the middle of my dinner with my family (for the 50th time, even after the do not call registry) I made it clear, get VOOM HD and I will switch back. No calls since then. So, No, I do not believe VOOMHD will be on DirecTV. Not because VOOMHD doesn't want to, but probably because DirecTV does not want to. That is, my view.

So, it should be on as of today. Any early reactions?

thanks

Hi, AndyHDTV. The short answer is no. I have not heard anything about TWC or any other cable system. Only about DirecTV, and now, about CV. And yes, the service should be up and running by today.

Anyone have the VOOM channels yet? I don't. I'm on Long Island

Nevermind, just found out that the Island doesn't get them until Thursday.

Does anyone know when Brooklyn will get the VOOM channels? As of right now, all of the HD channels are "frozen"...there's sound, but the image freezes at whatever frame it's at when you turn to the channel.

Try rebooting the receiver.

Thanks, that fixed it

I'm in Rockland Co., NY, and the VOOM HD channels are up and running over here.

Who is watching 24 hours of kung fu? Anyway, there's some pretty cool stuff on here, and I'm always happy when CV adds new HD programming.

So at this rate, we should have those 500 HD channels by . . . 2017?

I got my VOOM channels last night (Bergen County NJ). Was watching that flight over Provence show on EquatorHD. Very nice, although I had the occassional CV pixelization (using SA4200HD box). I also saw some of the crazy StarCraft tournament on the Game channel.
Always nice to have more options, even if most of them weren't showing anything I wanted to watch at the time!

yup just got mine today, awesome to see so many more HD channels! I counted about 10+ or so. Is there a list anywhere of what we have now?
Brooklyn, NY...channels still not up. Did the new channels just show up for you guys? Or did you have to reboot?

Well, got the channels, and they look great, but there is no info in the program guide. Anyone else have this problem? I've tried rebooting.
Last time I checked the info was there on my system.

No Voom guide info out of the Warwick, NY/Northwest Jersey system...

All Cablevision needs to do now is add MTVHD, HDNet and HDNet movies and it is a complete home run!
I have heard that MHD (MTVHD) is not that good...mostly replayed music/concerts.

Thats fairly accurate, but there are some good HD shows in there

I'm still having the lacking of program info in the channel guide as well.. Hopefully they add it soon so I can set to record a movie or two.

I'm a cablevision user, and I'm really happy with the new additions.

The HD gaming channel which is awesome, much better than crap G4. And all it's commercials are HD gaming trailers

I also love the UltraHD channel. I was watching D&G fashion show in Milan last night, and the picture quality is fantastic for cable.

These VOOM channels are great since these lifestyle, travel/culture programmings shine on HD. Excellent job Cablevision and VOOM

For once it is nice to live in NY. 40 HD channels!

When will they add the programming info?
The HD gaming channel does make me want to run out and buy a laptop and an XBox 360, 2 purchases I have been putting off for a while now. But those games in beautiful HD...!

I'm getting all the guide info for the VoOM channels?

Is anyone able to record the new channels in HD using a Tivo Series 3? Eariler in the thread I read about some concerns that it would not work. Would be very interested.

I was all ready to switch to Verizon (they have just hit my area) and now this. I have to say that I am very serisouly considering staying now. I have DirecTV as well (for the last 6-7 years) and think it is finally time to dump it. The whole phasing out of my HD Tivo has soured me on them.
