I am having trouble getting a dvd recorder to record what I play via the TV. I have the TV hooked up via HDMI. The source I am using for information is SAT (Directv Signal). I tried to hook up the dvd player to the vcr output. But when I tried to record I got nothing. What should I be doing to insure what I see on the TV is what I record. The dvd recorder only has a rca input for right, left, and video. It is a go video unit that can transfer vhs tape to dvd. I am assuming that I can record off of the input. Anyone out there that can help would be appreciated.
Denon punted me to Dakmart. Dakmart is going to take it back and return my money after they "inspect" it. Short term I'll need to focus on getting that accomplished. Dakmart has no other B-stock of the 5308, so my plan to save money with a B-stock model seems to have died in chaos.
Long term, I'm very uncertain what to do. Wincing, I can afford a new 5308, but the upcoming upgrade leaves questions in my mind. I'd very much like that upgrade..
1. If I wait, will I be able to just buy a 5308 with the upgrade and not put the unit thru the risk of transit damage? Will Denon roll the update into new 5308's sold? If so, will the price go up? If not, buying one now and then chucking out more cash for the upgrade seems like a dumb idea. I've waited this long, I suppose I could wait a couple more months if the upgrade is included and the price doesn't shoot up.
2. I wish I had some clue how long a 5308 will be gone during an upgrade if I buy now. Just not crazy about pulling and shipping it once it's here.
I've been a long time lurker here. Learning and savoring the day I could get the 5308. I'm gonna be out of town for work for the next couple of weeks, so there is no sense to rushing out and buying another, and certainly not before the Dakmart business is settled.
