Upon a nice invitation from Steve Bruzonsky last year, I've finally decided becoming an AVS member, too (so far, I've been a Digital Theater member for about a year).
...Yeees! I'm excited...twice! To the fact of my membership at AVS I'm adding now the fact I'm ordering (for the first time) Aerial speakers to upgrade my A/V system, ie.: L&R LR-5s + CC-5 + L&R SW-12s (with their matching Sound-Anchors stands).
Since this is going to be a demanding "exercise" to my wallet, I am going to give it a well-deserved rest after it. Accordingly, I am not going to spend more money this year in anything (speaker cables, tweaks, etc.) that is not strictly needed for my system. In this regard, one of the things that I'll need to purchase now are long interconnect cables to hook-up the powered SW-12s to my Proceed AVP pre/pro (my current subs are passive ones). I'll need two interconnect runs of some 20 ft.(one run per each sub).
...Because of the lenght of these runs (20 ft. or so), I wonder whether premium/exotic interconnect cables will be needed. I guess I remember once reading somewhere a recommendation for using "solid core" cables (such as those from JPS Labs) for long interconnect runs. On the other hand, I also remember somebody recommending "network" interconnects (ie. Transparent, MIT) for such applications.
Anybody out there using powered subs -Aerial ones or other- with long interconnects? Any preferences on "solid core" vs. "network"?
Since my Aerial dealer is also a Madrigal and Harmonic Technology dealer, in principle I feel inclined to try interconnects of any of these brands. However, I am open to your knowledgeable suggestions.
I posted my list of current A/V gear at the "What's Your System Configuration" forum. Also, I am posting it in a brief version at the end of this post. So, please, if based on my current gear, you can suggest some future improvements for my new Aerial speakers, they will be highly welcomed!
On closing: What about using premium power cords for powered subs??? Any experiences out there??? Any recommendable brands/models???
Thanks for sharing!
