To my eyes, the barrel of the plasma rifle looks a little clearer in the HD DVD versions compared to the BD. But yes, with this particular cap, the difference isn't major. Also, why is the dirt speck missing from under the plasma blast in the Theatrical HD DVD? Were all these others the DC from the same master or something?
If you look at the eyes you'll notice the blu-ray is more blocky than the HD DVD discs. I found the beginning of the movie soft, would be nice to see a comparison of a frame later on in the movie or a close up as those are usually sharpest.
I have T2 HD-DVD but have yet to watch more than 20 mins of it. As for these screenshots I can see a difference there between the BD and HD-DVD versions - if you look at the wheelchair sign in the background the HD-DVD is a tad sharper than the BD.
Yea the HD-DVD shots look slightly better, but i'm a bit concerned that xylon's blu-ray player software isn't doing any chroma interpolation/filtering when going from YPbPr 4:2:2 to RGB, when his hd-dvd software is, so it's not a perfect comparison.
The HD-DVD does seem to be THE version out of all of these, with better detail and no compression noise, but the EE in the picture (and on the bars on the HD-DVD) is pretty disappointing. Jeez, we need another friggin master of T2 already?
