Ok, I bought zoom player pro and have the latest ffdshow etc.... and need a little advice.

I better start of with my htpc main component specs:

256mb radeon asus eax1650pro ddr2
1gb ddr2 677mhz memory
amd athlon 64 x2 duel core processor 4200+ socket am2
5.1 dolby digital/dts surround sound card with spdif optical in and out sonicxplosion

Running WinXP Pro, 1280x768 (native of my lcd and projector)

Been using WinDVD for quite a while now as I havent managed to use zoom player since I bought it.

For the past year or so I have bee throwling through forums, guides, various recommended settings for using ffdshow with zoom player for dvd playback, and everything I do seems to be wrong.

I simply want to find something for me to follow that will help me choose the right settings etc to use.

I have not managed to get/find out how to use spdif pass through for dolby digital/dts modes to my external reciever via optical cable (as I have done with other dvd software players)

When I have tried some of the video guides, it cant seem to find some of the filters so wont play.
Then other guides show options which dont even show up as me having them?

Could someone please try to link me to some form of guide that is more simplified for me to understand? (or even simplify it for me) as I would really like starting to use zoom player with ffdshow and whatever filters I need.

I would really appriciate the help as I just feel like giving up in a way, as I just dont seem to understand all the stuff I found

Here's hoping

I suppose one of the best things to start with is list everything I must have installed.

Bit short on time, but easy one with audio: go into ffdshow audio config in the start menu, select codecs, click on AC3 and send it to spdif.

I see what I was doing wrong there, I was selecting the AC3/DTS codecs and looking for the config, I didnt realise that I had to click the next coloumn along (under Decoder)

Thank you very much for that, now for the image....

Anyone?

Right, audio working nicely through spdif.

After doing the basic video configuration, it says that it cannot find the ffdshow.ax for the video?

Any ideas as to where it has gone?/ meant to be?
