I plan on buying the Epson Powerlite Cinema 400 projector soon. My goal is to hook up a ps3 and a cheapish sound system to this pj. The sound system is the Sony HT-DDW700. It doesn't accept video feed of any sort, just a basic sound system.
I think I'll use the optical digital cable to connect sound from the ps3 to the sound system, but I'm unsure of what to use between the ps3 and the projector. The projector has an HDMI port available, as does the ps3, but if I don't need to transmit sound to the projector like I would a tv, should I be using component instead?
The projector's HD is 720p, so I don't need the 1080p functions of the HDMI cable, but with an HDMI cable everything is in one compact cable, and makes setup a tad easier. I have heard of problems with running HDMI over longer distances, and mine would be running at least 20 ft (probably not long enough to distort much, but just thought I'd throw that in there).
So for your ps3 owners out there with this projector (or a similar one), which video cable would you recommend? Are there any straight advantages to using component over HDMI or vice versa?
