I have one of the tv from the love seat(it sits about 9 feet from it) but the tv is still not pushed back all the way to the wall b/c I'm trying to get all the wires straight and waiting on my friend to help me move it......dont want to break it.

this is from the loveseat not the sofa chair(it didn't load up right) I will take another one tonight from the sofa chair that sits about 5 feet from it

the pictrue is still amazing from the side viewing angles

whats better is getting the tv for free under warranty
post #36 of 1991
Thanks for the pictures.

I will be taking a serious look at the 57734 in the next few weeks
post #37 of 1991
anybody else have a 734 yet?

I finally had time to sit down and watch the first movie on it Saturday. I watched the Shooter on SD-DVD and it was great. The upconversion om my DVD player made this movie almost look HD and the scenery in it was awesome. Again, I am very pleased with this tv. I'm having Dish Network come out on Friday to upgrade my dish and box to HD and hopefully I will have some good results with this.

Update:
HHGregg called and I negotiated with them to get me the "65 so it will be here Thursday. They made me an offer I couldn't refuse

Anyways,
I pre-ordered Shooter on HD-DVD as well as 300.

Did you get a chance to see if the service menu commands work?

Shooter is available at Amazon for pre-order.

300 was available on Amazon but has been taken down...maybe they sold out

I'll post pictures of my set up once everything is said and done on Thursday.

We received our 65734 on Friday night. After some concern about the whining noise that was noticeable on Saturday morning, it appears that by Monday the sound has dissipated to the point to where it is barely audible -- especially when surround sound is on.

Much like you, I have been blown away by the quality of the picture produced by the set. I went though some of my handy calibration settings on the AVIA disk and found that I had to change very little (quite a different story from my 2001 vintage Panny 47"). The black levels are surprisingly good, so I suppose that the "Deep Field Imager" is doing its job.

I have not made the jump yet to a next generation DVD, but the display of my Pioneer Elite DV-45A is so good with this set that it seems like I am watching a high definition picture. The display from my SA 8300 HD Cablebox is equally impressive. The high definition channels are like looking out a window.

Do not expect decent sound out of the built in speakers. Even my wife who has rather indiscriminate audio opinions noticed how poorly the set sounded. However, this is not a problem since we normally watch all content with our surround sound receiver turned on.

Overall, this is an awesome set. We are extremely happy with our purchase.
Thanks for all the pics and info,it looks like an outstanding set.
Something I'm considering purchasing in the near future.

I was hoping someone could be able to tell me how well it would look/work with a PC hooked up to it(overscan/readable text/gaming response etc)
If anyone can do this or know anything about it defintivley?
Thanks again

P.S. also if anyone has tried any of the newer consoles with it(PS3 X360)I'd be interested in any results.

My 65inch is getting delivered on SAT!! Can't wait!
Just hope it doesn't suck like my WD52525. I bought that one in 2004 and its been worked on 3 times for various reasons. I'm giving you another shot MITS PLEASE don't fail me again!

My 65734 was delivered Monday. It replaced a 60" Mitsubishi CRT projection TV that had served me well. Obviously, the change in technology I'm experiencing is pretty dramatic. Here are my first impressions:

As far as the picture goes, it is simply amazing. I have analog cable and an in-the-attic antenna so I am getting all types of signals: 480i, SD 4:3, and HD. I haven't touched the color adjustments yet, so I'm sure the experts out there could find ways to improve the picture, but I can't. The colors are so rich and the images so bright that I feel like I've entered a new world. I had on a baseball game in HD and it was so amazing that even my 11-year old daughter who never watches baseball sat down to watch with me.

I've played around with the audio adjustments a little, but I don't think I'll be able to get the full rich sound that my old Mitsubishi's larger speakers gave me. The sound, to me, sounds like it's in a box rather than sounding natural. I guess I'll have to get a surround sound system now.

So picture fantastic, sound okay (I haven't had any of that whine noise that earlier posters mentioned) and other features about what you would expect. But there is one HUGE negative that makes me miss my old Mitsubishi. I hope someone can tell me it's just something I'm doing wrong, because it really bugs me.

I am a channel surfer. I sit with my remote and flip and flip to find something I like. On my old Mitsubishi, the channels went like this: 1,2,3, etc. On my new set, the channels go 1....................., 2............................, 3............. You get the idea. Instead of being instantly on the next channel, there is about a 2 second lag between when I push the channel up or down button and when the channel appears on screen. It is really annoying for a channel surfer like me.

So does anyone know if this is just the way digital sets work now? Is it on all sets, or just Mitsubishi's? Is there an adjustment I need to make? Will it go away if I switch to digital cable? Any input would be welcome.

So to sum it up, I absolutely love my new 65734's picture, can live with my new TV's sound until I get a surround sound system, but hate watching TV because I can't stand changing channels anymore.

Well my 65734 came in yesterday. I got it all set up and immediately noticed a loud humming coming from the back of the TV. I thought maybe it would get better but after watching a few HD DVD's and some cable through the day it only started to become more noticable. When my wife came home from work she said what is that god awful humming. Needless to say I'm calling HHGregg back today and having them bring me another one...if it has the same problem I'm just going to get one of the new Samsung LED models. Plus there is a black speck in the middle of the TV that won't come loose...I'm guessing it's stuck on the lens or in the light engine.

I've had the most unbelievably bad luck with Mitsubishi.

What a bummer man it's such a beautiful set and my HD DVD's through my A20 looked better on this set then they did on my 57732 model.

Update: Final straw is tomorrow...they are delivering me another set. If it turns out to have a humming noise it's going back and an in store credit will be issued.

I FEEL YOUR PAIN BROTHER!

This will also be my final try at the Mitsubishi line, at least it happened right off the bat and not a year after you bought it.

15hrs till my 65734 shows up!!

Folks, I'm considering the WD-57734 and the Sony KDS-60A2020. I'm totally torn and unsure what to do. I would GREATLY appreciate any feedback in terms of what's the best set. Thanks!
The best set for you is the one that produces the picture you find most pleasing and has the features you will use most.

The two sets use very different technology to get to the same place.

Both manufacturers have had their issues with previous versions of the sets.

Probably the biggest difference between them is the use of a color wheel in the Mit set. These are mechanical devices and can tend to wear and need replacement over time. The Sony doesn't have similar mechanical moving parts in the set.

If you get an extended warranty, the only thing that really matters is the picture quality and operational features.

You'll likely be looking for another set by the time the extended warranty expires.

I am finding that not too many places have these tv's yet. I have checked sears, bestbuy and ultimate electronics and none have it (at least on their website, I may have to venture to the stores to look). Where are you guys getting yours?

I just got back from Ultimate Electronics and looked at the WD-65734. This is a spectacular tv. This only makes my choice harder now because I was going to wait until the new SXRD's came out. I never thought I would end up buying a DLP tv but I must admit this one is nice.

*sigh*

Delivery Complete! My 65734 is home!
After I got the surround sound hooked up it was time to run
it through its paces:

Digital Cable: Excellent
HD Channels: WOW!
DVD: Looks Great!
Blu-Ray via PS3: Flawless!

Have not touched color adjustments because it looked great right out of the box.
Love the ClearThought Auto Sensing feature which is like plug n play.
I hear no odd humming at this point... we will see if that maintains. (Crossing fingers)

Only one bummer. I have two "black" somethings, not noticeable, unless you get right up on it. It looks like dirt, lint behind the screen. Who knows? I will live with it.

Congrats katet19!!! I hope all goes well with your new TV!

Hi guys

just a basic question. ..Are we expecting newer models in Diamond series this year. Is 734 series better than current diamond series in picture quality??

Thanks

Well, I just wanted to thank all you mitsu proponents out there that finally convinced me (indirectly) to pull the trigger on a 65734 last night. It'll be a week or so - waiting for shipping confirmation.

My current 48513 has served me well for the last several years, but recently, has begun to suffer a minor bout of "burn-in". Rather than risk further injury, I've decided to force him into early retirement. Fortunately, a minor league team has decided to pick him up as a 2nd stringer which in turn left me a little more cap room to work with for a replacement.

First of all, I'm a HT novice, so my decision making process may not be entirely rational. I'm relying heavily on the expertise of the coaches and recruiters on this forum.

I went through all the motions on this one. I knew it had to be a RPTV given the layout of the room and size/budget in mind. Started on the LED Samsungs. Kept working through their lineup until I decided I had to have an 89S. I don't know much about HDMI 1.3, but I knew I had to have it. Maybe not today, maybe not tomorrow, but someday... Then, inevitably, I went through the Sony stage, the good news, it was short lived. I saw a Sammy along side a Sony at Tweeter and it was a no brainer. I'm sure it was all in the setup, but even my untrained eyes were let down by the Sony. Then somewhere along the way, cupid hit me with a JVC arrow. JVC? Good grief, I can get a 70" for a lot less? But features... hmmm. Finally I took a long look at my star player that served me well. Those three little diamonds pulled me in and I threw Mitsubishi into the avsforum quick search... it was all over from there.

I really wish I could have afforded the 833, but hey, I'm not the Yankees.

Currently, he'll be working with a rookie HDA2 and a veteran Pioneer VSX-D608 (he was sporting DTS, couldn't get much better than that in his day). Both will be traded away within the year I think. 1080p and 7.1.... we'll definitely make the playoffs by next year.

Hopefully, practice starts next week; I'll have my recruiter post some pictures and results next week.
