I just got my a2 about a week ago and was wondering if you guys notice some noise in some scenes. The movie i was watching was italian job, it wasnt that much but enough to bother me a little.
I've never noticed anything that shouldn't be their. If you think it's a hardware fault get a clean film like A Scanner Darkly, and if you still get noise issues it's something in your system.
I personally haven't seen it, but I've heard that the transfer for The Italian Job was not the best one. Watch a higher tier movie like Batman Begins or King Kong and see if the noise is there. If it is, it's your setup; if it's not, it's the software.
I dont have a A2 but did notice some noise with HDMI on my upscaling dvd player, decided to move the power to a strip with HumX on it where my subwoofer is. Ground in my house is bad and causes loud humming in my sub which humx made completely disappear. Apparantly the noise in the video all but disappeared and can now watch movies with NR off. Maybe HDMI is more susceptible to video noise?? I haven't had a problem with the 360 addon with it.
I have the a2 connected to my denon 4306 with hdmi and then from the denon to a pioneer 5070. I have to check with another movie and if not then its mabye the cables.

If you notice picture noise in some scenes and not others, then you already have the proof that it's not the player.

I honestly don't understand how video noise can be injected into a 100% digital path (from digital disc to the display's digital receiver/processor). I can see how noise could be injected at the display (through analog mechanisms), but not beforehand.
