IIRC the Venue series was just the name of JBL's entry line 3-4 years ago same as the N series, E series and now ES
I believe Venue fit the time between N series and E series
thinking about returning the marantz 6005 and getting an onkyo nr709 instead, i just don't like the marantz, the remote is very confusing and hard to use, and as hard as I've tried i cant get the bass response from the sub anywhere close to what i had with my RC180
After talking to the guy at A4L he talked me into sticking with the marantz for now. He feels it will be a huge downgrade going to the 709
I would agree with him, I never had any problem with producing bass from my Marantz 880.
A few posts back you said you got the bass to your liking. If you still don't have enough bass, either turn up the volume control on the sub, and/or increase the bass output in the Marantz. or find a better location for the sub, it might be sitting in a lull.
Dynamic volume/eq feature gives a huge bass boost at low volume. Onkyo's have a "double bass" setting where bass can be sent to both your speakers and your sub. Denon's call it "LFE+MAIN" but it only applies if you use a low or full range setting for your fronts.
|Some people prefer a little ~3-6db bump after... but I suggest you try it for awhile. After some time you will recalibrate and come to realize everything sounds much more natural, and the strong LFE will still be there when the movie is really supposed to have it.|
|Strictly non-audophile terms, I have never heard a friend's system that was not running the subs some 6-10db hot. It is a very common mistake.|
