Well, no new products means no new interest. There is the DD67000, but how many of us could afford it?

Two New PS1400 Subs Available

Hi guys...I outsmarted my common sense on a project ordering two PS1400s a bit too early. The architect can't give me enough room for them in the cabinetry, so I'll have to find an alternative. I don't need to have the PS1400s sitting around. So, if anybody is interested in a killer opportunity on these, PM me. Cheers. smile.gif

She WMBO has other ideas. She thinks I should be selling rather than buying. biggrin.gif

Keep saving your ducats. You might get to use them yet.

Hi there, i'm an owner of JBL l890s.

recently i noticed a problem with strange deformations on tweeters of both my front speakers. i can't say for sure if it affected SQ, since i haven't listened to them for some time.
What do you guys think? should i try to repair them somehow, or it's not something i should be worried about?
Those "strange deformations" are the direct result of curious little fingers. Should they be replaced? Yes, probably. But if you're buying such speakers on eBay they tell you it makes no difference to the sound. rolleyes.gif

Some people have success using sticky tape to pull the dome back out, but it's never 100% successful. Easiest to work on if you take them out of the wave guide.

The tweeter is not currently available on JBL's parts list, the UHF tweeter is.

thanks for the reply.

i tried to redirect stereo signal to side and back surround speakers (bookshelf models from L studio line) and did notice that they sound better than front speakers, it seems that this damage affects sound quality.

Do you think i could take those tweeters from surround speakers and put them into fronts, would they fit? they seem to be the same.

Depends on the model, but it's possible. There are sometimes differences in the way they mount in the wave guide. One way to score parts is to buy a used pair off eBay and part them out. Possible models with compatible parts are any of the L-series line, but be sure to confirm part numbers: http://www.harmanaudio.com/search_browse/jblparts.asp?Parts=L820.

thanks,
i kind of repaired it with a vacuum cleaner , it almost restored the original shape. it sounds alot better now.

tweeter JBL 362817-001 is listed as for L810 - L890

i was just thinking... is it possible to install different tweeter something from newer series as an upgrade? for example LS line..

Hey Guys -
I have finally joined the JBL family. For my Left and Right speakers, i bought the JBL ES30BKs bookshelf speakers and the center channel is ES250. They reached my place yesterday and i love them. I want to mount the speakers - is that possible? These are pretty heavy speakers and i didnt know what options i had. Anyone who has ES30s or is aware of them - what setup is normally used?

Thanks guys.

Different tweeter isn't really an option. Both from the standpoint of mounting - it won't fit the wave guide - and electrical - it won't work right with the crossover. I'd just use them as-is unless you can find parts.

It's not designed for wall mounting but can be put on stands with good results. Sitting on a shelf is another option. I assume there's a port on the back of the ES30, so they'd want to be away from the wall as much as possible.

JBL Soundfly: plug and play.

This is a concept I like, but don't tell my GF, or she'll make me get rid of some of my stuff and replace it with these. The idea of having my iPhone in my pocket and controlling music from room to room is pretty darn cool.

There's even a thread here.

...and now, let the hating begin. tongue.gif

Just in case someone thinks the Soundfly is the answer to a question no one has asked, I think it's a pretty good connection to some comments by Jerry Del Colliano here:

This isn't for most of us, but my grandson will be all over this.

Story of a dead PS1400:

About a year ago I picked up an orphan PS1400 plate amp off eBay for $20 plus shipping. I assumed it was dead, but figured it was worth $20 for parts.

Fast forward to last week: I wake up in the morning and smell something really bad in the HT room. Shortly after I notice the 2 green LEDs on one PS1400 are off. Uh-oh.
Pulled the plate amp:

I just decided to put the $20 amp in the PS1400 and guess what? It works!
Color me amazed and really proud of that $20 eBay score. biggrin.gif

What a great surprise. Also glad you got the fire out before it spread.
Yes well there's a fuse in there for protection, which blew.
Good to hear you got it back in working order.

Picked up an EC-35 center today off craigs for $43. Didn't really need it but for $43 what the heck! Still rocking the JBL Northridge E series all around the house. One room with E90 fronts, EC-35 center, and E10 surrounds. A bedroom system with E80 fronts, EC-25 center, E10 side surrounds, and some Energy mini's for rear surrounds. Sun room has E30 fronts and the newly purchased EC-35. Oh, and I have a pair of E50's and another EC-25 in a closet! Love the Northridge E series!
