Update - stupid user was the source... I was using the combo power button (powers multiple devices on off) when entering codes.
Directv remote code is 31298. It works and will allow volume control, mute and power off from the DTV remote. Oddly enough it will not power up the Onky0 605 - I tried all the codes... weird but I can live with it for the moment.

I just purchased an Onkyo 605 and would like to control it (really just interested in volume control) with my directv remote (HR-250 unit). I tried the codes but did not have any luck. Just wondering if anyone out there has had a better luck.
Tried searching but could not find anything specific to my problem. Did learn quite a bit about the Onkyo 605 that will come in handy as I add my remaining devices.
