VE Preorder Price on the Onkyo 905

Value Electronics (800-789-5050) is taking phone preorders on the Onkyo TX-NR905 receiver for $ 1599 + shipping. They are an authorized Onkyo dealer. They are also taking preorders & orders on the other new Onkyo receivers at a substantial discount.

A lot of folks on the forum have purchased HD-DVD and Blu-Ray players from VE and have been very satisfied with their outstanding customer service.

I have a 905 on order with Robert at VE.

I have a question about this - But am also conscious of my finances (And yes I realize it won't be charged until shipped):

How long do you think I can wait and still get in on a preorder? I mean, if it is due out in August, can I wait 2-3 weeks on this price?

$1299, there's a thread a little below this one...

EDIT: That's J&R's pre-order price, if you're asking VE's I'm not sure but believe they're matching J&R.

Last when I spoke with Robert Zohn at VE--- they were matching J&R's price on the item. You'll have to call to see the current shipping fee though.

Well, I went ahead and pre ordered mine today.

This should be fun now.

BTW - They were very friendly over the phone. Sorry CJO, I meant to ask about Integra. But I will say, when I look at Onkyo's website, VE is listed. When I looked at Integra's website, they were not.

Greetings everyone. Sorry for the ignorance, but I am interested in buying this receiver (especially at the mentioned preorder price).

Question - will the retail price after this hits the market go up? I saw on a different thread the new 50" pioneer on preorder for $3999 - should I expect the market price to be higher once it is released?

Thanks - I'm learning the ropes and trying to judge how much time i have to pull the trigger.

My guess is that price will change on a dealer-by-dealer basis. I don't think there are formal incentives for preorders. I would call someone like Robert at VE and ask him that question...he's the owner so you'll get a straight answer.

Have been written to Robert like 4-5 times for the last month since my preorder and havent heard from him.... Wonder what is going on and when will I hear from him again... Robert, if you can read this please pm me or email me as i have been trying to reach you for a while without any reply!!!! (Would like to get my 905 asap!!! )

DKatman, we have not delivered all of our NR905s yet. This week we are getting another small allocation.

Assuming that you're asking if the forum sale is still on... I say yes.

All of Onkyo's new 5 series receivers are hot. And as we have seen so many time before with advanced CE products new hot items are typically in short supply for a few months if not longer.

Thanks Robert.

I believe I spoke to your wife the other day. She was really nice and helpful. I happened to check my credit card online at the same time they were denying the charge. So while Wendy was calling my home, I called into to verify the charge with my credit card and called her to let her know it would be fine.

So far, UPS lists it as a Monday delivery. If someone starts driving REALLY fast, maybe I can still get it Friday.

I did receive my 905 and my BD-P1200 on Monday. Everything was beautifully boxed and seems to work perfectly.

I am very pleased with my items and my experience with Value Electronics.
