anyone here using an htpc for their CIH setup with Theatertek?

Is anyone here outputting their CIH setup with theatertek from an htpc? I noticed that Theatertek has pretty precise AR control. Is anyone here documenting their AR settings for each movie?

I use a HTPC with TheaterTek.

Works great. Custom aspect ratios are simple and fast to implement. It can do an "auto-detect" on aspect ratios (haven't really bothered to try), or it remembers your settings for each individual title. There is a free trial download last time I checked, give it a whirl.

TheaterTek will play back DVD/.vob and .ts files. For Divx video, Media Player Classic (freebie) will do the necessary stretching. I haven't done an a/b comparison, but MPC has pretty good PQ.

ok- so do you have AR settings for each movie that scales it up for your panamorph lens?

I have a HTPC using Theatertek, and I had trouble with vertical stretch. While the Theatertek will change the AR, I could not get it to do the stretch correctly. When playing a 2.35:1 movie I cound not get it to completely fill the vertical screen. I could scretch vertically, but there was a limit to how high it went, and it was not very high. Thus while I could get the stretched AR correct, it was not filling the whole 16:9 projection area, thus negating the reason for the anamorphic lens.

I'm very new to this, and it could have been my error.

Stretching vertically is only to a certain point, then you either need to zoom or move your projector position if the image does not fit the screen vertically. The stretching vertically is to give you the correct geometry after you have stretched it horizontally with the anamorphic lens. It does not necessarily by itself make the V. stretched image the height of your particular screen.

Wait- I thought you could stretch and move the center image- I had no problem stretching a 2.4 image to fill my 16 by 10 monitor for testing (I am still tryig to work this out before I get the lens)

I have posted to Theatertek to add a feature to allow command line stretching/scaling for each video played so instead of forcing on AR file, we could input each setting individually, and presumably have a program that read the specs from a database and launched the movie properly with bookmarks to jump to the movie start.
