Here is the announcement:

Great features.

I saw that. Looks like good stuff. I want.

This is funny!

(The 6-5/16-inch subwoofer is in a cabinet that measures roughly 10 x 11 x 6 (W x H x D) inches, so it, too, is easily accommodated.)

Yea... so this thing is a piece of garbage...

The sound coming through on HDMI can not be used by the unit...

It only outputs the to the TV it is connected to.

WHAT IS THE POINT OF THAT!

Needless to say I will be returning this tomorrow and breaking down and spending it on a nice component system...

Although I think it will probably blow my 12'x14' little dorm room away.

The thing is, all I need is a receiver with HDMI, and some nice speakers so I can rock out with my PS3 and my 47" 1080p Westy.

(for under 500... IS THAT TOO MUCH TO ASK FOR?)

Most HTIBs with HDMI do pass through only. If audio process over HDMI is all you need, I think there are only 2 HTIBs do that: Sony HT-DDW995 and the other one by Onkyo.

Before you return it, can you try if it upscales from component inputs to HDMI out?

Also, the spec says it plays audio/video files from USB port. Wonder if you can attach a USB drive and play files from it?

Yea... I tried the iPod and USB port out. both work pretty cool.
(I just put some music on a USB stick and it worked)

sorry about the video up-convert stephenju... I packed her up last night and I never got to try it out.

Other than not catering to your needs, how was it (sound quality, etc)? I know it won't be phenomenal, but I don't want something that sounds horrible. It has all the inputs I need and I like the size of the speakers. I'm thinking about getting one for a small room just to have a small HTiB, and you can't beat the price.

The sound was ok... a little muffled if you ask me. (I'm no auditory expert here)

the unit would probably be great if you add your own speakers...

So I'm looking at this for a very basic setup for a bedroom, and I was looking as the JVC Australia website and it mention analogue optical in on this webpage:

http://www.jvc-australia.com/JVC/mic...terminals.html

and selecting audio. Is this a mistake as elsewhere on the site it says digital optical? Thanks in advance from a rather confused noob

Edit: Oh yeah, thanks for the great resource, I've been lurking in here for about a month trying to get a handle on this stuff.
