Original DVD menus off an ISO?

Hello all!

I've been lurking around trying to figure out the best way to reduce my DVD collection to a hard drive or two and hook it to my HDTV. I was looking at a networked media player but they're not upgradeable and they seem to have trouble playing high quality HD content.

I'm looking for the following features in order of importance:
1. I'd like to be able to play DVD ISOs with full, original menus.
2. Ability to play most video file formats including those at 1080p.
3. Easy to use (for the girlfriend).
4. Streaming content from another networked computer.
5. Ability to play music files, including AAC.
6. Work with my Logitech Harmony 880.

Based on my needs, what type of system would you folks recommend? I'm especially looking for specific software recommendations and what plug-ins I may need. I don't need the PVR but it would be a cool bonus.

Thanks so much in advance! This is a very informative community.

As for your DVD menus, Linux players don't care whether you play from the device or from an image -- they treat them the same. So, with the right settings, you can use xine to play a DVD .iso just like a real DVD.

MythTV shouls handle you needs as well as PVR. The internal player in .20 can play DVD's with menus from ISO as well as store cover art etc.... With the right system.. ie 3.x+ with an XVMC accelerated GPU (NVIDIA 5500fx+) You should have no problem with 1080P content including 264 PAFF.

As for #6, I can say that I set up my Harmony 880 with my MythTV box, and it works pretty well, just by setting up the remote to control a "media center PC" device and using the LIRC files on the MythTV wiki (with some modifications to the lircrc file). The only things I don't like about it are actually problems with the remote, not MythTV. I have even managed to setup the activity-based remote functions to work with my MythTV box.
