All the *45 series are non-current models. From my limited knowledge and research I've been told that the only model to even consider at this point in time over the 347 would be their 745 (their flagship model) I know Fry's is clearing these out, new, for I think $999. And as already stated, you can get referbed ones from HK with a 2 year warranty for that or less.
I think if you want to wait a bit they will be coming out with upper line 47 models, 647, 747, etc... but I have no idea when.
NOW, on 247 VS 347... per HARMON KARDON, which was nice enough to respond to my email, in a plainly stated way the differences between these 2 receivers:
"Both the AVR247 and AVR347 will convert up to 720p through HDMI.
It will pass 1080i through untouched. There are not many differences
between the two receivers. The AVR347 has 5 more watts of power over
the AVR247. It has an ABus input for employing ABus amp modules for
multiroom capability. It has one additional optical and coaxial digital
input over the AVR247. The AVR347 comes with a programmable remote with
Learning capabilities. The remote included with the AVR247 is
programmable only. MSRP for the two models is $549.00 and $899.00
***** My only unanswered question (which I forgot to ask!) is if you could run, say, 3 opticals and 3 coaxial inputs at the same time. I did reply to HK to see if he would clarify this for me and will post it here if/when I get an answer. *****
