Invisible DVR recordings (not your typical phantom recordings)

So tonight I go to watch TV and notice my Motorola 3412 is recording. I didn't remember setting anything to record, so I check the DVR menu, and nothing is showing as recording. So I can't stop the recording from there. So I started recording one show, changed the channel, and clicked to record a second show. I got the warning that I could either record that second show or move to the other recording, so I chose the latter to see what the heck was recording.

The DVR moved to Bravo, where it was recording The Godfather, Part II. Great choice, but I didn't program that, and it wasn't showing as recording on the menu (but it was indeed recording, because the red recording light was on, and the DVR said it was moving to that recording). I checked the disk space used, and it was nearly maxed (I've never had it above 60% or so), so it had been recording probably for most of the day. I stopped this mystery recording, but the disk space is still used.

Does anyone know how I can reclaim this phantom space? Any help is much appreciated.

I figured out what happened. The DVR was set to record a single show, but it never stopped recording when it was supposed to, so that one recording was about 20 hours. Luckily, it hasn't happened again.
