Universal's TV Shows - how much longer is the wait?!

One of the biggest strengths of Universal's support of HD DVD is the great television programming that they can potentially release. It's also a little frustrating at the same time. As I am torn on buying a lot of tv series releases on DVD. I would prefer to wait for the HD DVD annoucement, but really how long will that be? Some of the series I'm looking forward to on HD DVD:

Eureka
Battlestar Galactica (I've heard it's coming soon!)
The Munsters
Monk
Quantum Leap
The Office
My Name is Earl

Of course it would be wrong to not give the studio kudos for releasing Heroes at the height of it's popularity. It's definately a step in the direction I want the studio to take.

there is no market for HD tv shows right now..hell there's hardly a market for HD movies.

My entire family is awaiting the release of Heroes. That's simply the best show on TV in general and HDTV in particular.

I enjoy watching Northern Exposure on UHD. It's nice that they mastered something so old on HD. I would most likely buy the series once again if Universal were to release it in HD.

I'm really looking forward to Battleststar on DVD, and would be more than willing to rebuy seasons one and two in HD. The same goes for Warner's Babylon 5 if it is released in Blu-Ray or HD-DVD.

I caught S1 Ep2 of Quantum Leap on UHD last year and I was pleased with the quality. It was a little grainy, but definitely better than the DVDs. That's a series I would be excited about getting. The Office and 30 Rock (is everything on NBC Universal?) would be nice as well.

I'd love Quantum Leap to come out, but only if Universal actually spends some money to license the original music. The first season was fine, as were most of the seasons in the UK, but I couldn't stand the music replacements in the DVD sets in NA.

...I mean, if Universal can license Ob-La-Di-Ob-La-Da for the Hardy Boys/Nancy Drew Mysteries season 2, they can license some songs for Quantum Leap, can't they?

Yes. Universal also owns the SciFi channel, Telemundo, Sleuth, Bravo, USA, Munztv, & Global Networks.

That's true if we lived in Japan. In the US, the series is distributed by NBC Universal

NBC only distributes through TV.

Fox distributes the DVDs.

Scrubs is Beuna Vista, unfortunately. Of course, it's also shot on SD video.

The only problem is that the episodes were cropped.

I remember watching the episode Pool Hall Blues and during Sam's climatic final shot of the pool game the ball was completely cropped out of frame. It was like the camera slowly panned along the pool table's railing and then everyone started cheering...WTF?

I'd more like to see Universal bring The Equalizer to HD DVD, uncropped of course. Though UHD tends to show the absolute best episode of the series, 1986's Out of the Past, with Stephen McHattie, Brad Dourif, and James Gammon co-starring.
