JB HiFi Modbury South Australia telling mistruths to customers about HDDVD

As the title says.I am a home theater installer here in Adelaide and get anoyed at seeing sales people telling deliberate or uniformed info to their customers. This is the worst case I have seen in quite awhile.
I was looking at the Sony bluray display there when I heard their sales guy there [wearing a scarfe] tell a couple there this.HDDVD has only the porn industry supporting it.There for next to no movies available----He was going on about all the major studios only support bluray. That was it I couldnt hold back.I said excuse me you are not right in what you are saying--he called me over and tried to say it to me.I explained well---Universal is wholly and soley hddvd and warner is in plus many more.I explained bluray is region coded and hddvd is not allowing movies from all over the world. The customers were very interested in the conversation because they asked him about hddvd.I ended up saying he lied to these people which he did.I was ordered to leave the shop then.I am absolutely appalled at large companies like this doing this short of thing---I am sure the : law should come down very hard on this---they do in the car industry.JB is now another company I am going to educate people here to stay away from because of not being honest to their customers.

He said only the pornography industry is supporting HD DVD? He's worse than the people in the US who try to push Blu-Ray over HD DVD. Sounds like you ripped him apart good while the other customers were listening.

This is a good worse example of marketing. The shop itself probably will get more money from the customer if he buys the more expensive product. The margins in the lower priced products ain't often any good for the shops, unless there is very strong sales. So don't believe every shops salesmen!

That's prety big of them to remove you from the store for correcting an employees lies.

Unfortunetly because they are publically behind Blu-Ray in every way, writing to their head office may have no effect. However if you point out their staff are lying and missleading the public (cc your letter to the Aussie version of the Consumer Affairs) they may be forced to educate their sales staff a little bit more.

Hmm... sounds EXACTLY like Circuit City stores when they were pushing Divx over DVD.

It's hard to find a commissioned salesman that you can trust. Almost as bad as finding a trustworthy car mechanic.
