That is a whole lotta beef. It ain't what you'd call pretty, but it is a powerhouse. I would love to hear it.

Hmmm...should paint it white and put a freezer door on top...perfect duo application for a garage HT...but will it keep the meat cold?

Or 2 guys and a very sturdy cart....or two. Still need at least 4 to get it off the cart, preferably 5...1 on each corner and then another guy to yank the carts out.

Under the theory that it is easier to ask forgiveness than to get permission, an A7-900 will be added to the shootout.

I am wondering, though, How can this subwoofer POSSIBLY perform well with a slot port ?

Are you going to take that monster? I think you're going to have to fight Chris for it.

I talked to Chris today ... When he heard about the Trinity coming, he promised to build me one of my own.

By August, we will have the Twin Fathom 113's, the Def Tech Trinity, A new Ultra-13, Four long-throw 15 inch drivers from Creative Sounds (SDX-15 with a 30 mm X-Max) in sealed cabinets, and the A7-900.

She is catching on to my bringing home boat brochures and going into my spiel ...

"Honey, this one is only $255,000, and the monthly dock fee $500. The best part, there are a lot of 24 year old girls who will wash the boat free if I take them out for a spin"

Her response so far has been ...

"You need another subwoofer"

But I think this one has run its course.

Ya kno, that's a pretty great strategy...you might get the boat if you lived near blue not brown water . You could set it up as an IB yacht...pressurize a great lake...now that's an idea.

Hey ... at least we can breathe here ...

There was that water bladder sub a few years ago ... Keith Yates tested it in his 2004 shootout.

You must be thinking of SoCal. We get an nice ocean breeze that blows the smog into the Central Valley where 90% of your produce comes from. We import ours .

Water and bladders makes me have to pee...need a better concept...gotta go

craigsub- you thought about adding a Tsuzureko?

Give Perry a shout at Hemp acoustics, I'm sure he'd be interested since there isn't much feedback on these yet.

I'm curious as to why they don't publicly put up the SPL vs. Frequency graph..

Anyways.. This looks to be a nice subwoofer.

I want one. How long would be the wait on one of these?

I'm ready to buy.

EDIT: Would it be safe to put a reciever or surrounds on this beast? My room isn't exactly large so I wouldn't have too many other options to place them.. (1375 cu ft)

Spezzy,

It's just a raw driver. You can't really publish SPL vs. frequency until you define a box. That box will be large.

I also don't think it's actually in production or readily available. I'm sure if someone offered enough money they would build them. The question also then comes up to decide if the cost and frame size is worth the added cost vs. a pair of 18" woofers which have similar surface area. It definitely has some appeal in the braggin' rights department.

3rd floor apt = no dual 18's for me.

Combine that with the fact that it outweighs my KV-36XBR400 and I'm pretty sure I don't want to carry it up 17 stairs

They are available, I have one. Box is definitely not small though, 12ft^3 sealed.

435lbs would be a challenge...is it on casters? When I picked up a DLP last year, I had to move my 32"XBR into a back bedroom by myself. I want no part of that anymore.

I see. Thanks Mark.

It is big, but I don't think I could fit 2 of those in my room along with 4 21"s haha.

You have a Tsuzureko?

Did you buy the sample that is photo'd on the website? They might have started building them, but I don't recall seeing that they were available for regular purchase?
Hmm..
The more I look at it the more I wonder how good it could be for me..
Never can have too much bass..
Hemp woofer???

Turn it up so loud it starts smokin'....
Ok, nuff joking. This is a good thread to ask the question, "What is a subwoofer going to look like 5 or 10 years from now?".

What are the performance goals that cannot be met right now?

We are starting to see price/performance ratios that make the impossible, possible.

What is the holy grail of sub performance? Would it be 150 db output, flat from
200hz down to 0hz??

Subs that were real contenders 5 years ago, aren't even in the game anymore.
The changes that we are seeing are quite amazing.
