Hey Price

I used Rocklers Jig-it shelving jig.
http://www.rockler.com/product.cfm?p...ig%20it%20self

They just came out with a new one that makes lining up the holes even easier.
http://www.rockler.com/product.cfm?p...ig%20it%20self

I also used the kreg jig to put the rest of it together.

I'm glad SOMEONE is using the Kreg jig. I got one over a year ago because it looked so cool I had to have one. I've done nothing with it... nothing.

I look forward to re-doing my equipment closet someday. It'll come in handy then I'm sure.

I don't have that fancy Kreg Jig, but I do have a small one that I love.

For the peg holes, I just bought a sheet of peg board at HD, and used that as a guide when I build an entertainment center a few years ago.

thanks for having us over!!!! great time learn I have a LOT to learn and dream up

Thanks for having everyone over!

Good to hear what a properly treated dedicated theater sounds like...

Now just to fast-forward 15 years and build my own!

I'm sure I'll be running questions by you guys for treatments, I don't know anything about them yet.........

When do you plan on finishing out the whole basement? Just piece by piece?
going pages without pictures is unacceptable
post #1058 of 1201
Thanks for hosting the GTG this afternoon. I enjoyed meeting everyone and seeing/hearing your theater. I really like the acoustically transparent screen setup. I think it is definitely the way to go.

A side benefit of today was meeting someone nearby with a table saw.

Thanks for inviting us over Scott. I never saw RED and I liked it . Looking forward to another meet. Next time we'll have to check the surround sound setting earlier .

I'm sorry, I'm bad with names, but whoever was interested in the mount I have, I realized today that the RPAU I have does not include the RPA portion of the mount as I used it with my other mounting plate. If you want the universal part, I'll let it go for $20. You can use it with just about any mount they have.

It is this without the top piece.

Michael I hear you I used to have to drive all the way across town to use my dads table saw and It defiantly helps make building stuff much easier.

When all the bleeding is done in the rest of the basement I will spend some real cash on components Right not I'm on the cheap. Wish I would of had time to get the Onkyo hooked up I'm real curious on how it will sound.

Thanks for the invite Scott, it was fun. Good movie and beer choices too.

When you asked what I have been working on the past month I completely blanked out, I am still finishing up the toy-box for my niece, it's going to look pretty sweet, I will send you some pictures when it's done.

Cool
I had been wondering about the toy box

I should be getting my truck back today or tomorrow so I will be able to haul some lumber and get back at it. I really want to wrap this up this year.

I finished up the rack on friday and got it installed. Now all I need to do is buy a few wire management channels and a power strip.

Scott,

I actually just figured out how to use the video pass through function last night. Now if we are talking audio I'll have to go look at that tonight or tomorrow am and see what options they have.

I would think you would be able to do that though.

Is it a 1007? What model?

LOL its the low end model I picked it up off tiger a few weeks ago for $250. I have Opted to wait till I'm totally done before I sink a ton of cash into components. http://www.onkyousa.com/model.cfm?m=...s=Receiver&p=i

I've read a couple good things about that..

I wouldn't have gone so high if I wasn't obsessed with getting my 9 channels.

I really like the 707/8 etc....

Good idea on waiting...especially for your sweetass room you got going on.

Woolly showed me the spray foam kits that he bought online and is using on his basement walls.

I want to buy some for my basement and attic, I will order from the same place Woolly did, they have a bulk price if you order 10 or more kits, plus free shipping. If there is anybody else in Omaha interested in pooling an order for these please send me a PM!

I had an OPPD energy audit performed on my house this weekend and the guy really showed me the value in going with the spray foam vs traditional fiberglass. It does cost more but for certain applications you can't beat the closed cel stuff.
Where are you getting these spray foam kits?

They aren't cheap. It was around $650 for a 600 sq foot kit. About 100 off per kit if you buy bulk.

Just went through this whole thread last night. Great work and very close to what I am going for. The wife still doesn't get having lights behind the screen on the speakers, but I'm still doing it because I think it looks great! I'm very jealous of your ceiling height though. How close is your screen to the floor? I love the look of the screen taking up most of the front wall with the black felt all around it. That was exactly what I was planning but the wife couldn't picture it.

Anyway, great build. Helps me visualize a lot of things I was planning and gave me some other things to think about. Like the fabric on the walls. I was looking at the pictures thinking "Why did he put in carpet and furniture and the walls aren't mudded and taped yet!"

Looks very professional. Inspiring. Some of your material looks quarter-sawn and some doesn't. What did you order?
