The whole riser is floating its not hooked to the wall its free standing I will remove all the rubber pads in the middle and see how it feels

Well I put the first layer of decking down and put a few screws to hold it in place to see if I liked the way my step felt and I hate it. I changed the way I was going to do it because I did not think it would seem right having to step up right after entering the door. Where you see the blue tape is where I was originally going to have the step. I do believe I am going to change it back to the first plan

my design has changed so many times it isn't funny anymore

Hey man....nothing wrong with that. It's a lot easier to mess around with it now than when it's finished and you've regreted it for a year.

Though about doing a ramp? It might be a bit less dangerous than having to step up right after entering the room. You could ramp it up towards the front of the riser, and ramp it down towards the front of the first row. I can't tell what the grade would be, so it might not be feasible...

A ramp would be cool but there is not enough room for that. I will try it with the new step and see how it works if I don't like it I can change it back

Hello all

Here is the new design I like it allot better. I also took 6" off that side of the riser to make the step wider its 33".5 x 48"

Now I am waiting for my step lighting to arrive and I can stuff it and get it done

Hello All

Well I finished up the riser today and thought I would haul the chairs in to see how they fit can't wait to get this thing done I'm really fired up now. Now to order the fabric for the walls And make a finale carpet choice

Scott,

I don't know why but every time I see your avatar I have to laugh. That is a great picture. Always has that look of "Has dad lost his mind" LOL

John

BTW, the room is looking great. You are still ahead of me but I may be catching up soon. Or at least I hope I will.

Hopefuly things are going to pick up here.

I have been doing a bit of research on in-wall speakers. I plan on doing some 4" deep columns and was thinking of just building them like speaker boxs for my surrounds & rear speakers. Here are a few I have been looking at

I like the speakercraft ones they are funky looking.
The other ones look very traditional but I think your HT you need some thing different then the every day
I vote speakercraft

Thanks Craig things have been at a stand still waiting for my step lights they finally arrived Wednesday.

We picked our finale carpet choice yesterday and got it measured. I just got home with the install quote $2280.00 $480 of that was for tax and labor. We decided not to go with the carpet that had the pattern and picked one that was close to the same color in a real tight pile. I really don't want to spend quite this much on carpet but just could not find the dark olive green we liked in any other carpet. I guess ill bite the bullet and order it Monday

Hehe, the second time you have used this word too. I think you are getting tunnel vision. It is not about the finish but the journey man!

The more I looked at that patterned carpet the more I wanted no pattern. HeHe once I drop the cash theres no turning back.

Well its been raining here for the last few days so I have had some free time this week to do a bit of work on the room. Today I finished up the riser step lighting filled the step with sand and put the second layer of OSB on

I also ordered the carpet that will be installed November 13 this will give me a kick in the azz to get moving toward the finale treatments

Nice and clean Scott. You are coming along. I am too slow to even consider ordering carpet before things are 100%.
Nice use of the lights. Maybe I should add more like that. Do those dim too?
Looks good Scott.
Have you decided on acoustic treatments and whether to use the Fabricmate tracks yet?

Yes they will dim just need a dimmer switch. They have 25w incandescent clear bulbs in there. Here are the ones I just installed http://www.ccl-light.com/docs/outdoo...b-hl/120v.html

Andersa

I had Dkaps draw up a treatment plan. I am not going to do anything as far as putting up treatments till my carpet goes in. I think I will use a combination of fabricmate tracks and furring strips. I wanted to get the carpet installed on the stage before I build my screen wall since it will not be all that big.

I just need to figure out how I am going to do the door. I going to have a custom built solid core oak veneered door with exterior seals. only thing I am worried about is the threshold. My HT is already a inch off the concrete do to the sub floor if I add the threshold that will add at least another inch
post #145 of 1201
Sounds like a good plan.
If you want to see the track in action, you are welcome to come over. I only have 3 out of 16 panels covered with GOM yet, so plenty of opportunity to check out what the track looks like.

PM me if interested.

Very good. I'm subscribed. Thanks for the link to the lights. I will consider ordering some of those. The people that built mine put them in the wrong places. It would also be nice to not have to paint them.

Edit: approved for the build

Excellent! I've been looking for a step light just like that one. Thanks for the tip.
