I'm going back to the area tomorrow and find Sherman Williams and get that paint sprayer I saw them at lowes a while back and thought how awesome it would work for painting trim and doors. I dug around a bit and found some youtube videos of the graco in action. will post some action photo's after I try it out.

That thing looks sweet! You get all the cool toys Scott. I'm trying to decide if it would be easier to spray or brush/roll on the paint for my doors.

After watching that last video it only took him 36 sec to paint that door and that sold me. They are a bit pricey at 380.00 but it will also shoot stain and I need to re-stain my deck and the faster I can get these projects done the better.
Hmmm... If I set up my doors in the garage for painting, would you be willing to bring that sucker out here? I've been avoiding staining my deck for 2 years now... That'll be one of the firsts on my list when it warms up.

Feed me some lunch and Ill bring it by. Masking those french doors will be a chore

If I'm good at anything, it's providing food and drinks! I can't wait to finally take the plastic of these French doors

I'm sold on the cordless paint sprayer too after the last video. That is one product that might turn me from hating painting anymore. I have tried the rollers which dispenses the paint from the stick but that looks easier to clean up and use.
Since I am going down to stain my bar seating, that sprayer looks even sweeter!

$380 for ease of use and quickness, Im sold.

Sorry to hear what happened to your truck, it sucks, besides costing you money, it distracts you from the build. My truck broke down before Xmas and I was agonizing over for the repair but fortunately it was the battery but now my other car starts leaking coolant so I need to get that fixed. Stuff happens so I guess this is the life. Just don't feel so bad about it, it will be over. Your build is coming along very nicely. Looking good.

Lowe's has the corded proshots for $245. I picked up a proshot this morning at Sherman Williams and the one I got was $480 but its there top of the line commercial proshot. I think the ones at Lowe's are more for the home owner and I'm not sure you can rebuild the pumps when they wear out. They say the pump lasts for 50 gals before it will need to be rebuilt with proper cleaning.
I bought a used Graco sprayer, not cordless. this makes cleanup look even easier. I primed my whole basement in less than an hour, most of that was setup and clean up, this would cut that down incredibly.

I swung by and took a pic of the offending pole today on my way to the paint store

Trippy, if you look at the top of the pole, you can clearly see the face of a demon. Demonic pole, no wonder.

I'll post some pics of the corn chip with the holy mother on it later.

I could see the pole in the grass but did not see the pole 3 feet out into the parking lot

The picture makes this pole look pretty tall but if you look close there is a black scuff mark below the top that is where my running board rubbed it. Wish I would have swung about 2 foot futher and it would have only gotten my box
post #1004 of 1201
That little harmless pole did a lot of damage, but why it is placed there as I see there is nothing need to be protected there. Yeah, trucks and SUVs always have visibility issues especially the A-pillar tends to be quite large on those type of vehicles. I have scratched my truck on right passage door against a shopping cart once on a parking lot, but guess who placed the shopping cart there, it was the boss but I still got blamed for not being able to see it when I was turning out from the parking lot and the truck was just about one weeks old.

Now to make yourself feeling better, just fool yourself in thinking that you got one of the best and expensive $1k+ paint gun

Well I tried out the Proshot sprayer tonight and must say it is really fast and clean up is a breeze. Only draw back I can see is over spray as with any sprayer. The spray pattern is quite large and I thought I had things taped off pretty well but didn't so there will be some touching up to do. As with everything I have done it has been a learning process. I will not paint the walls before trim goes up. My plan was to brush all the trim so I really had no worries about over spray. Just a bit of touch up hang the ceiling fan and paint the doors and the bedroom it done

you can see the over spray on my textured walls

Did the poll take the brunt of the damage or the F250 beast?

Where are you buying your fan?

Does Omaha Electric Supply have good stuff?

And what about those sweet bathroom fan electronic switches (off, 5, 10 , 15, 20 minute running time) ...?

Nice work!

no my truck did that pole didn't even move.

Fan? what Fan you must have your threads mixed up
post #1008 of 1201
You had mentioned hang the ceiling fan... Maybe he meant that one?

I had the same issue with overspray on my walls, but mine was against the ceiling when I painted the walls. When I do doors, I am making a spray room in the garage.

Ah you could be right the bathroom switch thing threw me off

Greg
I have been buying my ceiling fans from Menard's as they have a pretty decent selection of Hunter Fans which I like and Most of them are in the $100 to $150 dollar range

Yah, bedroom fan...

I found a casablanca that is in my size range...need a small one to fit between 2 can lights....

I'll check Menards..Lowes/HD didn't have anything small withOUT a light kit.

http://www.casablancafanco.com/Produ...ilea®-41U46D/

This is the one I'm thinking about...need a 35" or smaller.....

Nice spray painting...I need a tutorial.

Well the body shop called today with a final estimate for the truck almost 10K and said it could take them up to 4 weeks to finish it
I already miss my truck as I need more materials for the basement and my VW bug just ain't going to cut it.....

Man that sucks 4 weeks to complete. As much I would hate to say it you could always rent a truck from Lowes or Home depot to get your materials home.

If I lived closer to you I would help you out getting materials.
WOW! 10k!!!! Why do we have to drive around in such expensive things? Ridiculous!

Are you a one man outfit? Maybe you should consider buying a cheap old beater to get you through? It could then serve as a backup.

Ouch, time for a second opinion?

We have rental / replacement insurance for this kind of problem, think it pays $30 / day for a rental, which doesn't cover some things but sure is better than nothing....?

The bug might not cut it in this weather either.

Damn, 10k. That was some hellacious damage though. But 10k? Is that with your decals reapplied, etc?

Man, that sucks.

I have a honda accord you could borrow, but it sucks on ice/snow.

I have a '95 Volvo T-5/R that was rear-ended. Typical Volvo, no glass or lights broken, and the trunk still seals. But the bumper has a wrinkle, one collapsible bumper mount did just that and the sheet metal has barely visible little wrinkles in two places. One rear door rubs a little when closing it. Driveability isn't effected at all.

I tell you this detail because they TOTALED IT! After consulting two body shops they gave me $13,800 for it! I bought it back for salvage ($850) and it's in my garage with 240k miles. Runs great. Not my primary car, but, hey... it's great when I need a second car. And, such a deal!

Body work is expensive. Modern cars are complex. Sorry to hear your travails.

They said when they pulled the doors the door pillar was tweaked pretty good so it has to be replaced so you can imagine what that will take to fix. They did a search for used doors but not to many totaled 08 crew cabs. I'm not really worried about the cost as my insurance will not go up that much but 4 weeks to fix it come on. This is there busy season and all I guess

I was driving the bug around yesterday it does ok if the roads are plowed

I spent today putting my rack together. I thought about buying one of the fancy middle Atlantic racks but just could not bring myself to spend that kind of cash on one. I have maybe a $100 bucks and my time in this one. Going to stain it the same color as the theater.
