The definitive video (x264) conversion thread - Page 8

Well, I did everything as you described.
Still macroblocks in 4100SH while Media Player Classic is ok.
Don't know the source of this clip, I just got it from the Internet to test your conversion.

This is my first post and I thank everyone for their extensive knowledge and hard work in trying to figure out how to remux an .mkv file to a .ts file so it can be played on the TVix. I've read the entire thread and haven't seen anyone who is having the same problem I am. Hopefully someomne can point me in the right direction.

I downloaded v.85 of MKV2TS and registered the filters. I then tried to remux an .mkv file. The .ts file produced played on the TVix with only video. The information on the TVix showed that the audio was AC3 with 0 channels. I checked the original .mkv file and it has AC3 6 channel audio.

I then ran MKV2TS again this time not erasing the files. The audio_A1.mpa file produced contains the AC3 6 channel audio and playes fine on my computer. The muxed .ts file appears to only contain the video so it appears the problem is in the muxing.

Anyone have any ideas?? Any help would be much appreciated. Many thanks.

What is the source file (720p/1080p) DD 5.1/dts 5.1??

I have ran into this with the Tvix, but later confirmed that the TS file did not have audio in it...

I do have Xmuxer pro beta installed with AVC plugin (just baught this awesome software.. It will support MKV in soon future versions..).. Maybe having the xmuxer installed helps??

This is so far the best working version....

I'd say you've managed to find a screwy file......try another...maybe from another source.

Ok Guys....this is where I need YOUR help....I'm trying to connect my LimHD via NFS and i'm getting no joy.........

What do I need and how do I setup NFS on WinXP?

I have been trying ProNFS server...

I have selected the mounts:

c:\\documents and settings\\k\\my documents\\home\
fs

I have set it to export and added a NFS user as the LimHD's Ip addy: 192.168.1.66 with no password needed.

Back to the the LimHD, gave it a fixed IP 192.168.1.66 (checked with my router, and it shows the LimHD as on the network with that IP)

Still on the Lim, in the NFS settings, gave it the network path 192.168.X.XX:/NFS

Then reboot....

To check the IP side of things, I used CMD\\Ping 192.168.1.66.....all is well no packet losses etc...

Back to the LimHD.....entered the NFS share......and the Lim sees no files or folders...

Back to PC....check NFS server, and I can see 192.168.1.66 did connect...

What I'm I doing wrong or not doing here....

Cheers

Kevin;

I have installed and uninstalled MKV2TS versions (and filters) so many times that for some reason, all my recent conversions are broken (either stutter badly - even on PC with Nero Showtime) or are totally out of sync. It's very funny that with the older 0.80 version + Xmuxer I got a few to work quite well... but if I try to repeat the process, with the same original files I get garbage now...

On the other hand I have a few H264 720p AVI files that play correctly on the 4100 (they are older Intel 264 codec files, though). Please, could you confirm that most of your MKV->AVI (via MKV2VFR) conversions work fine on the LimHD200i ?

If this is the case, perhaps it is worth investigating better the AVI issues, or even waiting for a 4100 firmware upgrade to support h264 AVI's better ...

Hello..

As meationed before, you could use the NFS server from Tvix..

TViX NetShare v.1.08

http://www.tvix.co.kr/eng/support/EtcDriver.aspx

This server is soooo easy to use...

Just load it, and point it to the folder you want to share..

If you want to share multi folders, root directories, dvd-rom drives, you can also.. but,, with the following procedure..

In windows, make a directory where you will contain sub directories that will LINK to acutual root directories over different drives..

Example: Main directory = MOUNTS
sub directories in that = D (will be linked to D:\\ drive)
sub directories in that = E (will be linked to E:\\ drive)

Now, goto windows disk managment..

Highlight the Drive you want to share..

Right click on that drive, and choose option "change drive letter"

Once in this drive letter screen, choose ADD (do not chage actual drive letter).. By choosing ADD (folder), you then link this drive to a folder.. Since I have a folder called "c:\\mounts\\D" I will choose this for my D:\\ dvd rom drive..

Now windows see the dvd rom drive as d:\\ and c:\\mounts\\D

NOw..

With Tvix server, load it, and select the MOUNTS folder..

NOw..

Not sure what options you have for NFS, but on Tvix, I choose NFS (normal) mode..

On the client end (your media player), enter the IP address of your computer, and for the name use "tvixhd1"

For the name above, do not include the ""

You should not be accessing the Tvix server, and the Tvix server is looking at the Directory you showed it (which contains the sub directories that link to actuall drives)..

HOpe this works... On Tvix, works great, and have tired other programs like PRONFS, AllegroNFS, etc... but this was easiest and best..

All MKV2VFR AVI play fine on the LimHD.

Sounds like you have a codec conflict

download

http://download.videohelp.com/download/dxmani.exe

Run and remove any Elecard and Mainconcept drivers.....then run MKV2TS again...see it that does the trick.

Kevin;

By the way, there is a new version of MKV2TS (0.86) posted on their site - I wonder if it is difficult for you to make your usual compilation that avoids registering filters, which always works better then theirs....

Thanks again !

My advice....stay well away from that one....it's going backwards in as far it's now trying to adjust VFR for MP4....and that will end in tears....

OK... will stick with a mod 0.84 version I have from you - for some reason your mod 0.85 does not work on my PC - well, I have to do the codec clean up anyway tonight, perhaps things will change after that...

Thanks for your response. The source file is 720p with DD 5.1 audio.

I have the evaluation versions of XMuxer pro beta and the AVC plugin installed. I'm very hesitant to pay for the full versions of the program without knowing whether or not it will work. I was able to convert a similar .mkv file with an earlier version of MKV2TS, but I've installed so many versions and codecs I'm not sure how to proceed.

I'm thinking of rolling back my system and starting again. Should I just install MKV2TS v85 or do I need to install Xmuxer Pro and the AVC plugin also? Also, is are the full versions of XMuxer pro and the AVC plugin necessary or should it work with the evaluation versions?

Thans for your help.

Sounds like a good idea to roll back system to have fresh start..

As for installing the xmuxerpro, not sure, as I have always had it installed when using mkv2ts..

I would install the .85 version as I have had great results.. Only some 720p MKV's had freezing, or major compression BLOCKS...

1080p no good... Either out of sync, or major video blocks..

Good luck..

Hi

You dont need exuxer installed...stick with .85 I posted,...just run the unreg.bat and run dxman and make sure you have no elecard or mainconcept filters installed......run MKV2TS and try that....

Hi,
I am a bit confused.
Could someone answer this question please

At the moment are there any media players that will play a raw mkv without having to be be converted to another container first?

Thanks for your replies

Btw, I always wanted to give you my experience with MKV2TS utility.
It seems to skip muxing unpacked files into TS file at the last stage sometimes.
This happens occasionally and if I try second time on the same files it works.
I think it depends on system resources availability.
First time I set Process Priority to Low in Task Manager and got no TS file.
Second time I used my HDD quite actively to move files around while MKV2TS was running and also it stopped on TS muxing. When I tried second time - it was completed without any problems. Note that this doesn't relate to quality of resulting TS file, it may just stop muxing process.
Hope that you don't have the same problems.

1Gig memory, 2Gig Athlon, 2*HDD*RAID-0

Well, maybe my system has many wrong or beta video codecs.
And, yes, I removed Elecard and Mainconcept codecs through that tool.

Oh, yeah. I'm patiently waiting for TSRemux to support mkv as input. It doesn't use any codecs, just plain data conversion.

Try not using RAID-0 see if that fixes the problem. I had a ton of problems with Raid-0 and large file conversion. Just a suggestion ...xD
