Has anyone heard if Verizon is going to still add Wvec, Channel 13 to their Fios TV in August?

Also is the new PG coming sometime this month.
well done jimmy for starting a FiOS thread for HR!!!!

haven't heard anything new on WVEC-DT or any other locals being added to FiOS-but I think progress is being made.

because it's now available in my neighborhood & i'm having the TV service installed 7/12!!!!

ordered it just in time to get the movie pkg. free for 2 mos. called today to confirm the order was correct & inquire about the Triple Play bundle. was told any changes must wait 'til the order is completed(as an aside the nice young lady at the Mercury Blvd. support center told me wistfully that she lives in VB & doesn't have the TV available in her neighborhood yet-knew just how she feels).

hopefully we'll hear from dtv757 re: any new developments.

BTW I'm in the Warwick-on-the James sub. on Cedar Lane near Warwick Blvd.

I emailed the VA Franchise Manager yesterday and received a response that they are currently negotiating to get the signal live the second week of August, but the final agreement has NOT been signed. However, to me they would not even be talking dates if the were not just dotting the i's and crossing the t's.

Verizon's (un)official announcement was everyone would have it by the end of the summer, so that gives them until mid September. Honestly, I would rather we get a new guide information supplier than a completely new interface if given the option. I've missed too many recordings because the guide had generic info and the box did not set it as a new episode.

Shipps Corner and Princess Anne??? I'm surprised. I'm not sure where my c/o is? This 427 and 430 territory that I'm in... Here's a pic of the Princess Anne CO and the Shipps Corner CO...

SOON!!!
Pretty sad that Verizon thinks Chesapeake is a COUNTY.

Maybe one day they'll build out the network east of Great Bridge....
Chesapeake technically is a county & a city. VB is VB County & Princess Ann County. We have county's in South HR we just don't use them that often.
Actually no, Chesapeake and VB are cities. There are no counties involved anymore since the mergers.

Ocean Lakes, Pine Meadows, Uptown Dr and those other areas to my knowledge is another c/o. But as i said in the previous post it was a rumor that we heard from Mr Al around the time of the press conference (JAN 07) that RED MILL BLVD was the cut off point. but according to (http://www.telebeans.org/telco/COs/V...each/PRANVAXA/) PA c/o covers an area all the way to Geico, so that a long stretch down General Booth Blvd.

Here is a FAQ on the new IMG, it says all customers should have it be October 2007:

You've got to be kidding me, FiOS had an Emergency Broadcast Test during the middle of the All Star Game. Aren't these tests supposed to be run during the middle of the night?

Thanks for the update!

This raises two issues:
1. Why doesn't V* tell the affected customers when they are about to receive the new IMG (and where to go for training and FAQs). Why does it have to be a surprise for every change that V* makes?
2. So now it has been delayed until OCT? If it is already being rolled-out in some communities, that means to me that they have finished testing so there should not be any delays. Why is it taking so long for a software change? Is each market's software package that complex to install?

Note for the unidentified V* company mole reading this entry: I really like your product, but your interaction with the customers when it comes to updates and changes needs some significant improvement.

Hilltop IMO your 1st question is a result of Vz apparently following the D* policy of keeping all info on updates et. al. stealthy to avoid bad PR from unexpected delays or disasters(like what happened to WSKY) & giving competitors a possible edge. remember the delays etc. after Vz announced the addition of the LIN digitals? that handed a big PR coup to Cox.

if I'm correct it means to a certain degree Vz is a bit more concerned with their competitors than their subs. perhaps understandable but I sure hope priorities change as FiOS service matures.

as for your second pt. I'm hoping it's a matter of FiOS still being a work-in-progress. I've felt their choice of hardware & software has been a matter balancing costs, availability, & reliability plus compatibility with their system & what could be brought online the quickest. in short, a BIG compromise.

since the cablecos have a roughly 30 yr headstart I'm willing to give Vz some slack.
one thing tho-they could sure use some improvement in their online services.

FYI got a confirmation call yesterday-TV install still a go for tomorrow!!

Jim

1. I don't think an email notification to their customers 48 hours in advance would hurt them in any way.

2. New issue: I sure hope the new IMG will solve the DVR disconnect problem whenever there is an EMS test.

That's true of all of Verizon's services....

i agree completely & this ties in to my comment that Vz needs to improve their online services.

I ordered FiOS TV on 6/30 only because I checked yet again online to see if it was available(remembering that internet was made available to my area the last day of Dec.)
I just got an e-mail from Vz YESTERDAY informing me FiOS TV was available.
(to be fair tho I also got a 2nd confirmation phone call yesterday concerning today's install.)

When I found out that FiOS-TV would soon be coming to my area, I signed-up with FiOS to be notified when it was actually available. I have never received a phone call, email or doorknob flyer telling me that it is available (I have had service for over 7 months now). I found out, here, on AVS Forum.

How did you FiOS install go??
Let's suppose that one has Cavalier as their phone (only) provider, and COX as their internet/HDTV provider. Can one shift the COX package to Verizon on FiOS, or is VZ going to insist that they become the phone provider too, and kill the copper connection? COX has already told me that I can get just internet/HDTV via cable.
I'm not set up that way, but I could make it so.
