First the Bug:
I tried to watch an HBO program which I had recorded, and I was prompted to modify my Parental Control settings. I have never had Parental Controls set on any of my boxes. When I went to Settings to try to modify the Parental Controls, I was asked for a PIN. Never having set the controls, I didn't have a PIN. I called Tech Support...the tech tried to reset on their end, but that didn't work. He then reset the box, but that still didn't clear it. He then had me input 1-1-1-1 as the PIN, and that then let me modify the Parental Control settings. I had to do this on all the boxes to be able to get into the Parental Control settings. Interestingly, my DVR had Parental Controls ON but the other STBs did not. If you have the same situation, perhaps this will help.
Now the Fix:
With the old software, when watching a recorded program, the tuner was "hijacked" if you will...it tuned to the channel that the show you recorded had aired on. Therefore, you lost the buffer on the channel your TV had been tuned to, which was rather annoying. However, that seems to have been fixed with this upgrade. My TV was on Channel 3, and I watched a recording of Top Chef. When I stopped the recording, my TV was still on Channel 3, and I was able to Rewind past the point I had stopped the Top Chef recording. The only thing that isn't there (or didn't seem to be to me) is a progress bar that shows how far back in time the buffer goes. While you could do that with Cox, I honestly don't know if Verizon ever did have it because I never looked for a progress bar while watching live TV before the upgrade.
Just a couple of things I thought I would pass along.
