Quick question about the HDMI capabilities of the Onkyo 604

The documentation on the Onkyo 604 shows that it can accept PCM uncompressed 5.1 audio. If I am hooking this up to a PS3 and playing movies that contain a 6.1 or 7.1 PCM track, am I losing audio information..or can the PS3 or Onkyo be set to downmix the audio for a 5.1 setup? I currently only have a 5.1 speaker set up in my HT and will not be changing that anytime soon so i'm not concerned about getting 6.1 or 7.1 channels of sound, but on the other hand I do not want to lose some of the audio all together.

Does anyone know how the Onkyo and PS3 handle the various PCM tracks?

Not that I know, but it seems hard to fathom they would make it lose info when there are millions upon millions of 5.1 systems out there.

I'd think so too, but things are happening so quickly right now it's difficult to keep it all straight. I would assume that all the audio would be maintained and just blended into the existing channels, but I am just hoping someone can confirm that.
