I have a 4 year old panny 37" ed plasma monitor (no tuner) and am considering the dmr ez17 to replace my hd cable box (either qam (basic cable) or ota). Has anyone with a simlar display compared hd sourced pq.
The native resolution on this plasma is 480p, however hd progrmamming provides a much higher quality picture than any other source. I would expect that the the dmr ez17 would ouput a similar pq from an hd source.
Since my plasma has only 2 usable video inputs (component and s-video or composite), having the digital, analog and recorder all on the component input would simplify my connections.
I've considered the samsung hdtv tuner ...260f, but then would have to switch to the other input for analog or use an add-on switch. For my 480p plasma I think the the dmr ez17 should provide a similar pq from an hd source - I'm inquiring about the astc tuner pq, not the recorder pq.
