I'm thinking about maybe purchasing just a couple of speakers to add to the S406 set and expand to 7.2. Does anyone have a couple that would match well they want to sell or have a link to a couple speakers that would work well? Would just any old 6 ohm speakers be ok to match if just using as surrounds (ie just grab a couple from the local pawn shop?)

do you want towers or bookshelf speakers to complete your 7.2 system?
S420 satellites should be good enough for a S406 set (http://www.ebay.com/itm/Jamo-S-420-S...ht_4610wt_1159)

That's about $99 shipped from Canada for a pair or S420's.

If you wait for a Newegg sale, you can get a pair of Energy EF-500 towers for $99 shipped. The EF-500 is the same as the s426 tower.

Doesn't matter to me. Just looking for a deal.

I saw those, but wasn't sure if that is a good value?

I'll keep an eye out for those or any other suggestions ya'll have. This isn't urgent or anything.

I'm looking for a nice used pair of Jamo C-607's if someone wants to sell them at a good price. They're hard to find, specially the color that I'm looking for, apple. Also, I'm looking at the C601's for surrounds in apple. Thanks.

I know its not the matching center for the C603s but I got a great deal, and assuming its the C60CENs older brother it cant be bad.

Now im looking to get some C803s to replace my front C603s but I cant justify spending close to 700 for a new pair (only a few online). Havent been able to find any C803s any where else either .

So it looks like im either going to play the waiting game until a pair of 803s pop up somewhere or just hold on to the C603s with the C80CEN.

I am sure interested in C60.. however, I am looking for a good deal and suspect the shipment to British Columbia where I live will pretty much kill the deal.. will keep watching the local craigslist (using the two C601 as a CC in the mean time)

Awesome, just scored a pair of C803s lightly used for $400. Been looking for C803s for about two weeks and the only ones online to be found were brand new ones for $699.

I have a C80CEN on its way that i got for a steal (cheaper than a brand new C60)
So now im moving from a full C6 series to the C8 series (bookshelves only)
Replacing my old surround speakers (HTiB Onkyo) with my C603s so that should be a very nice jump.

Also upgrading my Onkyo TX-SR707 to a NR709 so hopefully I see some good improvement.

Updated speaker setup
Front L/R: Jamo C803
Center: Jamo C80CEN
Surround: Jamo C603
Surround Rear: Jamo C400SUR (now my weakest speakers)
Subs: HSU STF-2 / HSU VTF-2 MK3

Looks like you've got a really nice system there. Let us know how it sounds when you get it all setup.

Congrats on your new system

I am very interested to learn your impressions on how 6 series sounds compared to 8th.. (or vice versa).. just interested in differences in sound quality (especially in the mid and high ranges)

Thanks and keep us informed, pls ))

just an fyi, vanns has 807s in dark apple open box and new. they also have the 606 5.0 set for 399 in black and 449 in dark apple. How is the 606 set, any idea?
people like the s606 said and recommend it all the time as a budget 5.0 system.

You can read some of the 69 reviews and 4.9 out of 5.0 rating they receive.
http://www.vanns.com/shop/servlet/it..._c=site_search

I have the center and surrounds from that set paired with some other Jamo towers. The setup is quite good.

check out the high rez photos someone posted of the dark apple set.

They are pretty nice looking, all he needs is a real tv and that would be a nice set up.
Flip flopped again and purchased the 606 system. The extra 50 bucks off made it worth it to me. $400 seems like an incredibly good deal on this system. I think it will sound great paired with my S406's as surrounds.

But i am very jealous of that killer TV. man I want a pioneer plasma bad.
Thank you!
Oh man, i love the D500's, this is my set for the next few years and the pioneer plasma is the best tv I have ever bought. I'm happy!

Did the sub650 get the THX certification when it accompanied the d500s?Its a really powerful sub,but im curious is the THX spec awarded as a pair of sub650?I'd reckon you're achieving a powerful draft with the 2 subs in a frontal arrangement compared to back or side placement.V nice set up,really nicely done, how do you rate the d500 for general music?i'd imagine they beat the hell out of most sat-sub combos anyway.l know they are a movie set achievement though.TBH after ive watched a bluray/dvd (or 3) i then switch to 2-ch as i have a bit of extra power fed to multi-ch front main L & R as i mainly listen to music just before i turn in.Nice KURO too btw.

How are things Uber?Still enjoying scaring the sxxt outa your mates & family pumping up the volume?Or do they cautiously sit down at their own peril? Seen the Rise of POTAs recently, very impressive movie IMO.Got the Alien BD boxset a while back too.The bluray transfers are decent enough pic/sound wise.Man you can store loads of BD boxsets compared to DVD boxsets.Good at this stage cos they are starting to really pile up...good to see you still pop in here.It got to the stage i felt like i was talking to myself here even after almost 700 posts.Have a look back thru the thread at a lot of my posts esp when i asked certain op's anything, would'nt take you long to see what i mean mate..if your vaguely interested LOL.Seriously good to hear from you-Mal.

Hey!

After having ( and selling ) a D6thx front system...it looks like i'm coming back to jamo!

I cant decide on the d5 or 6 series though? And the 660 sub? 1 or 2?????

Over he in the uk the d5 get the 660 and the d6 get the d6 sub, how much difference is there?

Phil
Well looks like im upgrading even more now (I swear im done for a while).

Last week i bought C803s that were in black & a C80CEN in wood color. A pair of wood C803s just poped up on audiogen for a good price so i snagged them in order to match my center speaker. Now it looks like i will have C803s for the front & surround.

I now have 2 C603s and a C60CEN that im probably going to sell as a bundle since I will be replacing them with the C8 series.

Oh man im excited.

even though the build quality is very good on sub660/650,id say the difference would be digital amplification on the d6 with a nicer finish.I cant think of any other way it wud better the sub660?? have a listen to both if possible...

Hello there Mal its good to hear from you too. Most of me mates know to hold on tight but I still can get them to jump from time to time. the Hsu vtf3 ho/turbo sub I added can really pressurize the room and it catches them out all the time.I like the set up Dean has with his D500 system.very clean install.I have wanted to hear a D500 or D600 system for awhile now.Since I don't listen to much music through my HT I think one of those systems would do me just fine and free up some floor space.Like I have said before this is a hobby and trying new things is part of the fun.I have been finding very good deals on bluray's lately,I just got Troy today(5.98 USD).if you can get Fight Club its one of the best master audio I have heard.Yea Afrogt is about the only poster left from when we were starting out and Tjm3 has dropped off the face of the earth no emails or calls for a long time.

Be well my friend,Uber.

That's going to make a very good system Enphenate. The C803 is a large bookshelf speaker and the C80cen is a great center,I use one in my system.all of us have said were done upgrading but the bug bites us and its on to something different so dont worry we all do it.Let us know how it sounds when you have everything hooked up.

606 set arrived yesterday. Damn is that box heavy!

Would you guys recommend using an external amp to power my C80CEN & C803 front speakers or do you think that my Onkyo TX-NR709 is ok by itself?
Try the NR709 by itself and then if you think you need more power later buy an external amp. What would be your budget for an amp? How many channels?

Just for the 3.0? Should be plenty enough.

Well no it will be powering 4x C803s and a C80CEN as well as 2 rear surrounds & daul HSU subs.

Never really messed around with amps but I have been reading up on people using amps for their front speakers so it kind of caught my eye.
