The most I can do is look it over and maybe plug it in to be sure it lights up (if there is a light).

Should be able to test this with anything with a head phone jack. Just need a 3.5mm to RCA cable to hook into the sub.

Thank you! I didn't realize that, and I was going to offer to lug out my old receiver.

Is that something that I can get at Radio Shack?

Yeah should be...I were you I would try to keep the packaging in decent shape and hang on to the receipt so you can return it. Knowing radio shack it will be overpriced and it's not something you probably ever use again.

That's a good idea. I bought a cable for $6 at Radio Shack which isn't too bad. I tested it on my sub using my phone and a YouTube video, and it did what I wanted it to do.

Unfortunately, the seller rescheduled our meeting and then never responded to any further messages. I even traveled to meet him the next night and he never got back to me. I suspect that there was either something wrong with the sub or he figured out he could get more for it.

Just when you think you're done and set for 10 years, the upgrade bug bites. Oh well, time to hit Audiogon and Amazon.

When I switched out the pioneer for the marantz the sound was just so much better with the marantz it only took a few minutes to hear how much warmer the speakers sounded.I have last years sr5005 avr,you can still find them for a good price at accessories4less.com.the 5005 has preouts if you want to add a amp, which I think, would really make your 809's sound their best.

hows it going uber.IMO you got your marantz at a good price. The vsx919 was pretty entry level for pioneer,it doesn't really compare spec wise with a mid-range marantz, even though prices might suggest otherwise. & carefull speaker matching is the caveat with that amp:With the S6/506 you would have been on the right track, but the c607 needed a bit more of a push & can sound a little bright.I would compare the marantz with the vsx-2020/2021,different proposition IMO bud.I was looking at the SR 7005 myself as i could have gotten it for 600 english pounds, demo model. Actually still on the fence TBH as i dont[i]need[i][b] a 3D passthrough persay...but as the movies are coming thick & fast, just watched Fast & furious from movie 1& i must say i enjoyed it,edge of the seat stuff esp. 4 & 5 IMO.But ive also watched a couple of 3D movies like Clash OTT & COTT 2 looks good & i must say the C607 are still more than up to a great movie, man the sound from disneys classics like The lion king,Beauty & the beast is astounding, the way they've been re-mastered.Even through optical out on the PS3,so i can only reckon they would be more suited to what the are now re-done for.But the C607 set-up isn't going anywhere, man the can take (& give)a pounding, still diggin them...Hope you are doin well-J

Hello Mal,you are right about the 919 vs the sr5005.the Marantz is a higher quality piece even though they were only about 40 usd apart in price.I was looking at the pionner sc25 elite when I found the 5005.If you could listen to the sr7005 at you home I think you would love how good the concert series speakers sound when paired with a Marantz AVR.Like you I really dont need to upgrade my AVR but if I found a good deal on a 7005 I would more than likely do it.I have been finding good deals on bluray's and three really good ones are i robot,Troy, and the first underworld.Troy and Underworld use uncompressed PCM for the audio,if your receiver can decode it you will love how they sound.I am just blown away by how good these C607's are they have handled every thing I have thrown at them with ease. I dont think I have ever gotten close to pushing them to there limit. They handle movies, rock, jazz ,blues and classical and sound fantastic doing it.I dont think you can get close to the C-series performance without spending more than double there price.
Be well mate,Uber.

What are you talking about? Is your tweeter defective or are you looking to replace it with a different type? If defective I'm pretty sure you have a 5 year warranty .

I saw a mod to replace them with better ones to get crystal sounding highs. That's my only complaint with them and the center channel seems weak but for the money they are totally awesome

Call Vanns. You're best bet is to speak with a sales rep and maybe you can get a better price. The people that got the s606 for $300 were getting the Dark Apple, not the black. Not sure what color you prefer but it was during one of Vanns "call in" sales.

At any rate it is always better to call and speak with a sales person. That's what I do when I buy anything from them.

Thanks alot for the information.. but I do not see the dark apple on there site

Hi, I just got some Jamo E805 speakers that I will be using for surround duty. Can I flip them around to have the tweeter on top and the mid on the bottom? They will go on a speaker stand. Thanks.

Almost 2 years ago ,I bought the Jamo 400 center channel, rear 401's and the E660's towers.

Wasn't there some big ole Vann's sale around that time?

I am sure there has been a lot of improvement to the Jamo line of speakers, but my puny little ole setup still effin rocks.

I've never felt the need for a subwoofer, although reading this thread ,I've needed a lot of booze!

Cheers!

Whoohooo! Just ordered my first pair of Jamos. Scored a pair of C603s in black ash for $112 shipped off eBay. Seller said they were in perfect condition minus some dry dog food some kid put in one port. I figure for $112 what the hell. I can always try to get it out if it really bothers me. Can't wait to pit these against my Energy RC-10s.

i read that Pioneer SP-PK21BS thread and am considering buying when on sale at newegg again around $250 (but with the two towers and a different subwoofer). though as i keep reading here, the jamo s606 setup is looking good but $100 more expensive.

i will use mainly for movies and tv shows, i dont listen to music much. BUT, good sound for music would be nice too.

is the price difference worth it to just get the jamos at $350?

I was debating on bidding on those as well to replace my C403's. If I had known they would go for $112, I definitely would have bid. Congrats! That is an unbelievable price.

I dont know what the guys issue was with removing the dog food. Just pull the woofer and get it out. I bet they would have sold for a lot more without the included dog food!

I don't know what it is about dog food and Jamo speakers. I picked up a pair of Cornet 40 II locally and one had dog food in it as well. *insert "woofer" joke here*
post #5369 of 5636
Don't worry about the dog food the woofer will take care of it ! =)
Got my C603s today and got rid of the dog food : ). They sound fantastic. I'm running them through the gamut of music I listen too and they are very musical. They are nicely detailed, rich, and have an organic sound to them. Vocals in particular have a lot of texture to them. It's definitely a different sound in a good way from the RC-10s which I think sound amazing.
