Probably a good deal at $299. Specs says it weighs 108lbs, that cant be right. Would be a very heavy 16" cube.
http://www.vanns.com/shop/servlet/item/features/549645163/jamo-sub-650

•Dimensions: 15.7" W x 16.5" H x 16.5" D
•Weight: 107.8 lbs.

other sites says 49lbs which is probably more accurate.

Sounds like a decent investment - actually at that price you can somewhat afford to make a mistake. I'll check out Vann's return policy before making any decisions.

I'm still torn between this & the Klipsch rw-12d... if only newegg would drop it back down into the $200 range.
was the rw-12d ever $200? I only remember $299.

The Energy s10.3 has been the $200 range and as low as $179.

Yeah.....this specs for the S10.3 are better than the Jamo and claims to go lower than even the klipsch (21hz vs 24hz).

The S10.3 might be your best option for your price. Its currently $199 at newegg.

I ordered the Sub650 - mainly because I want a sealed design. If I don't like it, I figure I can craigslist it for 250 and get an energy 10.3 :-p Since I don't have a subwoofer though I should be golden on the purchase.

As for the RW-12D - think the lowest I've heard of it being is $279.99 during black friday or something, but it's been going to $300 (after coupon code) fairly regularly of late.

If you're on a $200 budget I've heard good things about the Energy 10.3, but if it's a $300 budget the RW-12d has a lot of recommendation just on the Price vs Performance (provided you get a non-damaged unit from newegg). If none of the above are what you'd like, the common recommendation is wait until you can get into the 600-1000 budget range and get one of the ID subwoofer choices (SVS, Hsu, Rythmik, etc).

EDIT: Oh, in the 300ish range I also hear the Hsu STF-1 or STF-2 are good.

Long story short I'm looking forward to Wednesday when I get my subwoofer smile.gif

I'm a complete newb! A friend of mine was moving so I bought their Onkyo 876 receiver and Jamo C607's from them for $600. I'm looking for a matching set of side surround speakers because I bi-amped the C607's, but I have no idea where to start! Any help is much appreciated!

Check out the C60 Surr Left and Right for Bipole/Dipole surrounds or C603/C601 for direct radiating (traditional) speakers. Congrats on getting the C607's. I'd love to have a pair myself.

Thanks! I'm thinking of starting off with just a 4.0 set up with the c603 or c601 acting as the surround speakers. When the onkyo 876 is Bi-amped you lose the rear left and right channels. Does this sound ok? Any ideas where I can buy them?

My room is 12x20 with the ceiling 7'6" do you guys think this will be enough power and sound

Will be adding it to a projector 106" screen

That would definitely be enough for that room size.

Anyone having problems with the d600 SUR clipping when the crossover is setup at 80Hz Thx? I have the d600 set and very strange clipping sound is coming from the surround speakers, the LCR are working great at 80Hz. I guess that Jamo did something wrong in the design.

As for the d6 sub I just replaced my twin d602 subs to the d600thx sub. All I can say is that power on this sub is amazing and even the extension. All I know about the d7 is that motion feedback technology was very early when this model was launched and there were some problems with it, in fact jamo delayed the d600 sub until they perfectioned this technology. If you get the d6 you won't regret it I am sure and the d7 is not in production anymore.

I'm so dissappointed. Few weeks ago I almost pulled the trigger on S606 speakers for $350....at the last second I said "let me wait, I'm sure they will be on sale again in the near future".

Sure enough, they don't even make them anymore. Spoke to Vanns and they said "discontinued"

On top of it, I have a feeling it will be the same story with jamo s426hcs3 sets as well (haven't seen any discount/deals on these lately either)

What's the overall feeling about S426 system? Are Polks Monitor 50s better speakers?

I think the Pioneer FS-51 speakers are better than the S426 and Polk Monitor 50's.
Better in performance, sure.

In looks.....FAR FAR behind.

Design wise Monitor 50 > Jamo > Pioneer

question, arethe jamor909's good for hometheartre as well or are they just for 2 channel audio(music) every review i find only mentions how they sound when playing music but nothing for movies. in upgrade mode and looking for speakers so i want to add the 909 to the list, your help is appreiated

anyone
If you buy speakers that cost over $6K each they better be good for music, movies and anythng else. biggrin.gif. I'm sure they'd be fine for home theater use. I'm of the opinion that if a speaker is great for music it should work well for HT too.
But to have a truly good HT setup you really need a subwoofer also.

They don't make matching center and surrounds for that speaker. It seems the only speakers in that line are the R909 and R907.

I assume wherever you're looking at them is a specialty audio store. Why dont you take a movie with you to demo them?
Au contraire, they make an open baffle center channel to match the R907, the R 900 CEN.

They just don't advertise it ... they're sneaky like that.. smile.gif

These just went on sale for TODAY only on Amazon

JAMO S-602
They're best as surrounds as I have pair of the S602. I wouldn't recommend them as front speakers. In fact I'll sell mine and the matching S60 center for $200.
Hi all,

Back in 2008 I posted in this forum after purchasing C805 for fronts / C803 for side surrounds and C80 CEN speakers for my living room.
I'm now a proud father and need to 'child proof' my home.

I'm using the C803's as side surrounds for a room that is under 4m wide, so mounting C803's on the wall will really 'stick out'. I've also noticed that because we sit so close to them, it doesn't deliver true 'surround'.
I'm now thinking about upgrading to C80 SUR speakers for the walls, as they are narrower and won't protrude as much, but may help with enveloping the listeners with sound.

Is this right? Would C80 SUR's give me a better / worse Surround experience?
If better, what is the best place to mount them? Behind the listening position? Higher than the listening position? Any info on this?

More info:
The room is also quite 'deep'.
Behind the couches is my dining room table and a recessed kitchen, so sound going backwards will travel another 5m to the back wall before coming back to the listening position.

Any advice would be great ;-)
The C80 Sur will create a more enveloping sound than monopole speakers so I think this is exactly what you're looking for.

Surrounds should also be placed above the main listening area 2-3 feet above ear level.

In a typical 5.1 setup the surrounds should be on the sides but experiment with your room, maybe they'll work better high and behind the main listening position.

The Jamo manual suggest you place the C80SUR to the sides, slightly behind and above the main listening position about 6ft high. Pages 12-13

Thanks for the info - seems perfect - Should have done this from the beginning!

Dear all,

Need some advice please. I have the Jamo D600 THX U2 set and since i came from a full range system, i am finding it hard to swallow the 80hz setting that i have to put on all the speakers. Since my room is only 16ft long and 10ft wide, i opted for only one D600 subwoofer. I was suggested to add 3 small (in comparison to the D600 SUB) subwoofers, namely the sub360 configured one with the centre channel, the other with the front left and right speakers and the third one with the surrounds. How can i do this with my processor?

I currently own the Onkyo PR-SC5508 and was thinking to come out of each respective preout direct to the line in on the sub360 and then back out from the line out of each sub to the poweramps which will obviously power the speakers. One question, will i be able to control cutoff so that i will not end up damaging the speakers and keeping them on the respective 80Hz allowed? I think that this way if i will setup the processor at 80Hz (recommended THX) directly to the sub360, i will still lose the function of the sub360 to work lower than the 80Hz cutoff. The reason for all this is that i want more body in the sound i am hearing and by adding 3 small subs i thought that the speakers will end up having a broader frequency range, but now i think that this is not possible to do. Anyone using this similar setup please maybe he can help? thank you.

Hey guys. Still loving my Jamo C803s C80cen and C400surr system. I was able to get the 800s for a great price back when I still had acess to Direct Buy. The surrounds were a steal when I got them from Vanns a few years back. When I move to larger place one day, I would love to get my hands on a pair of C809s and perhaps the c80surrounds as well.

Just figured I'd bump this thread. smile.gif
