Hi Guys,

I'm a bit green with all this, so I'm sorry if this is a dumb question.

I'm about to order the A10 range of satellite speaker but have a question with regards wiring the sub. The back of my Sony amp has a single dedicated Sub output, but looking at the spec of the Jamo Sub 200 there appears to be a Line In for both left and right?

Also there is prevision for speaker Level In left and right.

How do I wire this up to my Sony amp?

^^ if u using LFE out from ur receiver then its going to be (right) line input,
new tech subs comes this way, they dont have seperate lfe jacks anymore, if u want lfe its either the left or right input, its labeled near the input dont worry

Thanks for the prompt reply.

So just to clarify, I need to purchase a single 'phono to phono' Sub lead?

I then run this single lead from the sub out of my amp to either the right or left input of the Jamo 200 sub?

Sorry for being so thick, but if the above is correct why is there a left and right line input on the sub

Hi everyone,

I purchased my first 5.1 (4.1?) setup back in 1995 as a 20 year old.
I didn't really know what I was doing, but was sold Jamo Prestige 90's, Centre 110, and some crappy on-ceiling rears, with my ProLogic AVR.

its about time I upgraded, and I love the sound of the Jamo's (even after 13 years) so I'm considering going for the C80's (C805, C80 CEN, C80 SUR).

My question is: I have found some discussion that dipoles for surrounds are terrible, and shouldn't be used for ANY 5.1 / 6.1 or 7.1 setup.

Is this actually the case? For those of you that have dipoles, would mounting them on walls just behind the listening position, 2m away, work?

I have a very small house, but would think that a purchase of some high-end speakers will last me a VERY long time. (hopefully longer than 13 years!).

heres a comment in point:

Dipoles however have no place in 5.1 systems, they were common in the old prologic only days, where they added a sense of dispersion to the rear effects channel. They in my view (others are welcome to disagree) have no place in a 5/6/7.1 system.

Hey guys, I have the option to get some Jamo c60cen, c605 towers, and c603 bookshelfs...all for $500. I am thinking it is a good deal, what do you guys think? Go for it or no? I currently have the older e825s and they sound great...but I am wondering if the new C series will sound comparable?

I have the c80 center and the c809 towers, and I am very happy with them. Mostly home theater use, but I am listening to music more too. I really like the Jamo's but they don't seem to get much love around here. I am by no means an audiophile, but they sound great to me. I would recommend them. Can you demo them first?

Here in Finland i can get sub550 and sub650 at same price.Which one is better.Does 650 go as low as 550 does?

Well, I went ahead and got the C605, C60cen , and C601 for $500. So far so good, I love the sound. I am wondering how the C600 series compares to the C800 series? They appear to use the same kind of DTT tweeters and Hard Conical Cone drivers.

I just bought the C603.
They are very clear and great detail.

Anyone notice that they have a very different sound from North American speakers? I find the bass de-emphasized and attention to clarity, clean highs and overall greater soundstage.

What do you all think?

nobb1 - where did you get that deal? i'd be pretty interested to buy that set at that price too!!!

I've had Jamo for the past 13 years (as I mentioned in my previous note)....they have been fantastic to me, but its time for an upgrade. I think I will remain loyal..

Yea I thought it was a pretty sweet deal too. I bought them used in dark apple (very nice), but they look 100% like new. Too bad I dont really watch movies, only music in 2.1...so the extra speakers are kind of a waste.

If you want the C80 system, you better jump NOW. They have been discontinued here in North America and currently in the process of shipping all current inventory back to Europe. Maybe you know a dealer with some on the floor, if so waste no haste. Oh, and I have the C809, C80 CEN, C80 SUR, and C603's for rear surround duty all powered by Aragon amplifiers and a 3806 pre/pro...the system is fantastic. Jamo is not well known here in the USA, but is one of the top rated speakers in Europe. If more people were familiar with them, I truly believe they would be far more common than they are. Their sound is wonderful.

As far a dipoles being bad for surrounds...BWAHAHAHAH. To say "they have no place" is foolish and possibly ignorant. Likely this person(s) has not ever had the dipoles in their system and properly positioned. Perhaps 8if they did the speakers were not of quality, perhaps they didnt match well with the rest of the array, perhaps they were in the back in some odd-ball configuration, who knows. Anyway, they will offer a very large and enveloping surround image, far more than direct radiators can provide. IMHO, direct radiators should never be used as the side surrounds. They will be immediately localized. However, I DO prefer direct radiators as surrounds in only a 7.1 configuration with the dr's in the rear.

The idea with the surrounds is to mount them ~2' above the listening position. Locating them slightly behind the listener is quite acceptable. I personally prefer to have the surround directly to the side of the listening position. Experiment with placement and see what you think.

i'm really interested in the a102 hcs 5, but they're very hard to find in the us.

i found this site for an AMAZING price ($188) http://www.hookedontronics.com/show_....jsp?cid=39643 but they're out of stock.

otherwise there's a set on ebay for $399, i offered 250 and sadly they declined

ms has 30% cashback for ebay buy it now items, making these speakers 280 after cashback, bad thing is it takes 60 days to receive the cash back. this is actually what i used to buy my dg820 avr for about 210 shipped.

heard nothing but good things about this setup and it's in my price range and i like the small size.

does anyone know if these speakers come with any wire? never purchased higher end speakers so i'm unsure as to whether wire is generally included at all.

so i bought the a102 hcs5's from a guy on ebay, got him down to 335 with best offer and he agreed to set that as his buy it now price, so i was able to get 30% MS cash back (about 100 bucks or so)

got them last night and have them all hooked up. used some 16awg from monoprice. ordered 100', 30' for the rears, 15' for the fronts, and 10' for the center. also used the solder type banana plugs also from monoprice and used their guide to connect them without solder.

these things are really weighty, and they look great. they sound pretty damn good to my ears as well. sub is a big improvement over the 100watt sony w2500 i rented from best buy. the auto power on the sub is also a lot more reliable than the sony's.

the build quality is excellent, i'm quite impressed. haven't had a good chance to really crank em up and check out the bass and sound in general, but so far i'm liking them a lot.

Hi Guys,

I see all this prices for Jamo speakers being bandied around, I'm here to tell you that I bought a brand-new Jamo Sub 200 to compliment a pair of Jensen Bookshelfs that I bought in a Thrift shop in the U.S. for $10.00. The Jamo cost $145.00 in a local Dept. store called SM. This is all hooked up to a Pioneer VSX 518 which I bought at the same store for about $330.00. I'm not an Audiophile but the sound is 100-fold better now. Oh yea I live in Manila.

I have a Jamo Concert 803 HT system and I'm loving it. I don't have the matching C80 subwoofer. Instead I opted to go for dual MFW-15's.

I am thinking of upgrading the 803's and replacing them with 809's. I also just upgraded my av receiver that you see in the picture (crummy Yamaha RXV-450) to an Onkyo 876 receiver. The speaker stands that you see below have also been sold and replaced with B&W FS-700 stands.



I'll see if I can get a few updated shots of my room.

wow, thanks for the photos -

Its a strange setup though, it seems like you use your full Jamo setup to watch videos at your desk using a 37" screen?

Something like that would work well in a theatre room 3x the size. You must really love your music / movies.
Don't your eyes hurt sitting that close?

I'm basically after the same setup, except C805's (can't afford C809's!).

Eyes are fine. My main problem was finding the right office chair. After consulting my optometrist for the right height of the monitor [eye level with the top of the smaller monitor], my masseur/acupuncturist for the proper sitting posiition, I found I needed a footrest, a headrest and raised my seat height. I now have no more neck and back problems and can sit all day comfortably. Ergohuman forever! The Steelcase Leap, a great chair, but without a headrest is relegated to the real office.

I actually do the lion's share of work on the 37" and can open multiple windows on both screens. The actual point of an office! I route email and web browsing to the smaller screen, while keeping work on the large screen. I also have a Slingplayer hookup and watch television.

Upgrades in the near future - [fios is coming!]
24"+ MVA panel for the smaller screen
Video capture/tuner card
2 channel amp for the C 809; or perhaps 5-channel. Deciding which is better [Done!]
External storage - for HD movies!

I have recently purchased a pair of Jamo C607 floorstanders.......a pair of C603 bookshelf and a pair of C803 bookshelves.

I absolutely love the C607 and C603!!!

Haven't had the time to really work the C803 yet. Too busy loving the C607 and C603.

These C607 and C603 speakers are incredible! I can't stop gushing over them.

The C603 bookshelf speakers are better than several very high priced bookshelves I have auditioned and in all honesty, they soundly defeated several high priced floorstanders.

I've seen several floorstanders, that cost a lot more money ( not talking cliches, here. I auditioned and listened), have beautiful, real wood cabinets and very " Prestigious " names; yet, those floorstanders crumbled with music and strong low bass material; that the C603 handled smoothly, sweetly and coherently. The C603 didn't even break a sweat or flinch.

Magnificant speakers! Both the C80 and C60 series. The C607 are highly under-rated and have to be one of, if not the best sounding, best designed and best built speakers I have ever seeb for this price.

I still have my Wharfedale Opus 2 speakers in my main system. But these Jamos have thrusted themselves right up there with my Opus 2, as my favorite speakers.

Wonderfully balanced, sweet, clear, with a slightly touch of warmth and richness. So smooth....so musical and absolutely wonderful for long listening sessions.

The timbre of instruments is gorgeous and euphonic.

They handle bass better than a lot of floorstanders.

What an outstanding bookshelf speaker, at any price!
