Thanks for the heads up this deal wasn't showing on my amazon page. I had to use another browser just to get to it. I guess my amazon cookies told them not show me the offer.

I wonder how many people don't know about this deal? I'd really be kicking myself if I ordered it today from Amazon without getting this offer.
Yeah, this is a hell of a deal.

It's almost a 300 dollar savings in comparison to buying it a month ago in a store.

I found it through the main page. The link in another thread had it going to the PS3 purchase page. That's one helluva deal. I wish the 5 select movies was a bit better as I'd be all over that! Too bad I own half of those on HD-DVD.

I'm still tempted to get it, and I'm a Prime member. I also have the Hi-Def discount too, so that helps even more. Decisions, decisions!

Grrr. I just looked closer at the 5 free discs and man do the corner you into getting pure crap. I'd take most of that box 1 as they're ones I'd watch.

You could sell the Blu-rays on Ebay or something.

I'm planning on selling 2 of the movies and the remote. I'm just happy I got a deal since BB wouldn't price match the Circuit City deal.

This is HOT deal! Looks like people are all over this deal as Memento (Blu-Ray) jumped to Sales Rank 4 in ALL DVDs beating even 300 (Blu-Ray). This probably is the the top rank ever taken by Blu-Ray movie at Amazon.

You and everybody that gets them. Who'd be left to buy "The Omen 666" or "Hart's War" when everybody's selling (and how much would you get for them)? Between the HD-DVD and Blu-ray '5 Free Movies' lists there's precious few gems to be picked (although HD-DVD has Casablanca which by itself classes-up the HD-DVD list' cache' considerably).

Casablanca. LOL. I wouldnt take it if it were free. Literally. BTW, this is the blu-ray forum, mosey on back to your side.

You wouldn't take Casablanca if it were free? What's wrong-not enough 'splosions?

And, his assessment is correct. If everyone is planning on putting crap movies on eBay, there is going to be a glut of them, and thus, lower price for everyone.

I mean, I'd rather have $7 than The Omen remake on Blu-Ray, so that's still something.

Yeah, but they are free, so you make a profit no matter what.

BLAH! I jumped on the PS3 when I saw the price drop... before this deal was posted. I called Amazon when I saw this thread - the only way I can get this deal is send in the one I ordered for a refund and rebuy the whole deal (although he said if my order hadn't shipped, he could have switched it out). The remote is not such a big deal to me because I want to find a way to use my Harmony 880 anyway (although I'm not sure that's possible, still researching), but Memento for free would be nice - I really enjoyed that one (as opposed to all the crap they put in the 5 free deal). *sigh*

PTB2UTAustin: i did the same as you, so when i called to ask what they can do, they stayed on the phone with me and told me to add both items to cart and check out as usual. once i did, while still on the phone, they zero'd out the charges, my card was never charged, and the items shipped next day (today). i went back to refresh and the charges were all $0.00.

just try another rep and call again.

Out of curiosity I just tried the link on amazon.com. Went all the way through checkout, ready to press the place order button until I realized it wasn't giving the remote for free. Looking at it closer looks like what gets added is a remote sold through target, which would not be from amazon so I guess thats that.

Did you take it to the very last step before it charges your card?

On the right side, where it lists your total, there should be a "promotions applied" line where it deducts out the costs of the remote & movie. Your grand total should be $499.99.

Thanks for the heads up! I'll give it a shot and see if I have better luck. I'll report back.

In the other PS3 thread, you can see that people have had great results (including me) with the Nyko Bluwave remote. I bought this remote (along with USB to IR adapter) from Amazon for $13.99 (I don't think they have it in stock anymore). I learned all the codes from the Nyko remote into my Harmony. Now my Harmony does everything.

Sweet! The person I got this time was MUCH more helpful. She started to want to have me return it and reorder it again, but I told her what others had done and she immediately took that route. Apparently, the confusion was that she thought the movie and remote were in the box and not shipped separately. Once she realized they were shipped separately, I added them to my cart and she applied a promtional certificate for that amount. Memento will be here in a couple of days, but it looks like it will be a couple of weeks for the remote - guess they sold out of them. Good news for Sony.

I just started reading about that today. Thanks for the info. That'll probably be the route that I take.

i also got all the way to checkout and realized the remote wasn't free

i might just buy the system and get the remote on ebay...whatever

ps: in regards to the five free movies: if you're a music fan, you can't tell me "the last waltz" wouldn't be badass in blu-ray!

Great deal. Thanks for the alert...I already have a PS3 as my Blu-ray player, but I took this opportunity to pick up two more for my brother and sister's families. They both have just recently gotten HDTVs but didn't have an HD disc player yet. This will be a great "starter kit" for their new home theaters. They are going to love it! They both have kids too, so I'm sure they'll end up playing games on them as well, so I know what to get them for Christmas.

Just to let you know, I am an only child and am auditioning siblings. I think I know a way for you to get to the top of the list.

Seriously, that's great.

I went back, and funny thing is now instead of Memento it gives you Resident Evil free. But upon checkout, it is charging me for the movie (remote is free). Argh
