i am beginning to experience problems with the set.during darker scenes there is a sort of motion blurring going on.almost like traces of previous images left behind for a split second or two.this is a new problem with the set as i have had it for 3 years and counting.it still falls under BB extended warranty.does anyone know if this is common with these sony crt's

Are these trails left by white objects that move across the screen? If so, it's likely phosphor trailing, and cannot be helped.

no i dont believe they are left by any one color in particular.besides the trails there is also a brief image left behind in the changing of a scene,if a person or object is standing in a particular place in the next scene(split second)you can see a dark shadow of where it was previously.

Have you tried adjusting your picture (white level) down a bit? Overexcited phosphors may be the problem.

would this be something that would appear suddenly.i have had this tv for 3 years.i have not changed the settings in some time.the problem has reared its ugly head only in the last couple of months, consistently getting worse a littile at a time

No...phosphor issues are always with the set, even since day one from the box.

Mine is still perfect after 4 years. Is it doing it on both broadcast tv and DVD images? Wondering if it is an input problem.

Agree with previous poster. If it's only on one input, then it's either the source material, or its something that calibration can fix.
