Annoying Netflix sent DVD version in HD DVD envelope..

More than likely, someone is scamming Netflix. They're buying a cheap used SD version of the movie. Then renting the HD-DVD from Netflix and then swapping out the discs when they return it. Apparently, it got by Netflix. I'm sure after being burned so many times, Netflix will wise up and do a visual inspection on every return of a HD movie.

This has never happened to me. Either someone switched it on them, or Netflix put it in the wrong envelope. Just notify Netflix of the mistake and return it.

Fast and the Furious, SD in HD sleeve...didn't notice it until the disc started playing, looked like crap (compared to HD discs) but still looked pretty good upconverted...

Netflix has done this to me before as well, just cannot remember what disc...but it was about 4 months ago...

I had this happen twice in two weeks with Blockbuster Total Access. Evidently some people are ripping off the HD versions and inserting SD versions when they return. I have cancelled BB Total Access. I was switching to Netflix anyway since BB won't be stocking HD-DVD in the stores, and the only advantage for BB was that you can return the rentals to the store.

I have been with them a year next month and get a movie a week. This has never happened to me but I occasionally (very occasionally) hear stories like yours.
