So, here's what I've found. I noticed today while watching Star Wars EP III from On Demand the "motion judder" was present. I tried different settings on the Onkyo to no avail. Tonight I viewed several HD channels and noticed the following:
HBOHD - no issue
StarHD - no issue
ShowtimeHD - no issue
DiscoveryHD - no issue
MOJO HD - no issue
ABCHD - "motion judder" to such an exaggerated extent that the movement of actors seemed to jump occasionally (this occurred on some show called Men in Trees - never watched it before)
NBCHD - "motion judder" while watching ER (not as bad as ABCHD, but still definitely present). Oddly enough, on our local NBC nightly news (the best HD picture I've seen, by the way) there is NO issue. So....same channel but two different sets of content shows issue present and then absent.
TNTHD - "motion judder" while watching some show called Saving Grace. Issue easily identified.
Additionally, while the problem was present on the last three mentioned channels and/or content I adjusted settings on the Onkyo from 1080p to PassThrough to Auto to 1080i to 720p. None of these settings altered the effect. It was still present and unaffected to any degree that I could discern.
Please note that all of these observations are AFTER switching to a brand new Motorola 3412 (and when I say new, I mean I watched them unbox and remove the plastic at the Comcast store here in Boulder). I've had this Sony 46XBR2 since last year and have never noted any issue even remotely like this. I fully believe this is an Onkyo issue. As such if this isn't resolved at some point by Onkyo this unit will either be going back or be for sale.
Anyone with any ideas as to what I might adjust, please enlighten me.
