That entrance looks really sharp Tony!

Schweeeet!! +1 on the entrance Tony

That is one sexy entry Tony! Hopefully I can utilize that as some sort of inspiration for my entry, however modded for an outdoor entry (all stone).

Tony,

Glad I "called you out". That is one gorgeous entry way. I for one am looking forward to seeing what you do with the lettering.

You were talking about the gold with a stain to make it looked aged, an antiqued bronze would be similar in color, or with all of the warm tones you have even a copper color might look very classy.

Keep it coming, looking great.

Here's a photo that shows the extra trim. It also looks into the room. I like the choice of red on the marquee and how it ties into the theme of the theater itself.

Whipped in your case big guy.... You're married! I can't believe Hanes didn't jump on sooner. He must be busy building his theatre. Actually, probably not! Looking great my friend. Did you find some leafing material? I think they have bronze, gold, silver and others available at craft shops.

Greg, I haven't looked yet. I need to put money into the counters and carpet before the letters. But I have a plan! Oh, and I love the picture.

Thanks everyone else. I appreciate the support.

I was over on the "Urban Legend Theater" thread and I've possibly found my carpet choice. Stanton Carpet, Masquerade, in the bark color. It was also used by Adam in his theater.

Here it is in his theater, but in a different color.

I've already found a local source and will be getting a sample soon.

Really really nice carpet Tony. Ask them if they will send to Australia!!!! Has that real theater look without looking cheap and chintzy. Would really complement your color scheme as well.
Yup that is great carpet. The entrance is awesome and deserves great carpet.
Very nice - I can see how that could also look very cool with a black border.

Floyd, I spent a good time yesterday investigating those door pulls. I first talked to the folks at the prototype design company, then a possible manufacturer, then Cinemark theaters (who apparently requested the design work), and they sent me to a product development company. That company said that the pulls never did go into production and that Cinemark decided to scrap the project. So, I tried my hardest, but that road was a dead end.

Glad to see the support on the carpet. I go today to pick up a sample. Photos to come. I was quoted around $6.85/sf for carpet only. Does that sound about right NJ?

Brad, can you explain your idea on bordering with black? I'm interested, but can't picture it? Remember, from the bar back will be stained hardwood.
Tony - Well, I guess I like the carpet too since we have that one selected as well for our HT. We are down to 2 or 3 from Stanton, and that one is our fav thus far. In the bark color also!

Sorry it didn't work out, would have looked pretty sweet. You're right about not being anything out there, at least from what I could see.

Tony,

Don't have time to post the pics, but here are a couple of links I came up with. Don't know where it may lead, but thought I'd pitch my .02 worth in.

Couldn't find a good approximation via Google Images, but something like this (with different main and border carpet of course):

RT, thanks for those links. I called on the one from door hardware.com It was priced at $680 !!! As a frequent reader of this thread, you all know what the chances are of me getting THAT! So the search continues...

My wife got some letters cut out of foam core and painted them gold to give us an idea of where we're headed and to evaluate letter size. Looks pretty sharp already, and it excites me for the final letters!

I also got by the carpet store and brought a sample home. I love it! However, I think "bark" may be a little lighter than I wanted. This sample is "caviar" and I think works better in our room.

Brad, I did ask about a border, and he said that since this carpet is woven, that seams are expensive and a boarder would have a huge effect on price. With hardwood in the rear, and the boldness of the pattern, I don't think the boarder would be worth the premium.

All these items need to happen in order. Concrete counters first. Then hardwood, then carpet. So, my wallet and my schedule will be full this winter. Hope to have all of this accomplished by Spring.

Oh, and we had a fantastic time for the LSU/Bama game Saturday! Ended up with about 13 people. I can't explain how satisfying it is to see friends enjoying the room!

I even got wild and crazy. I let the fuzz grow out so I could "decorate" my head for the big day!

Here's the only shot we grabbed that evening...I wish we had taken a better one with the whole group.

That carpet will really go great with your room.

+1 I really like it, works well with the theater. The letters look really good and I think the size is spot on, the back lighting really makes it pop. Very nice. Glad to hear that your gathering went well. I can wait until I can have a gathering of my own. Love the "hair cut". I would cut a horseshoe in mine but I would not want to be seen in public with it at this point!

That carpet is gorgeous, Tony. If you want an opinion (worth what you pay for it) I think that the letters are too tall but I love the backlight effect!

I was thinking the letters were ever so slightly too big. Good to hear the feedback. That mockup had them just sitting on the sill. The final letters will be centered in the field of red. The final font will likely be more "slender" than these mockups too. That might help.

On another note....I'm afraid I may be the most "glossed over" person on the forum. Seriously, look through all my posts and you'll find that I offer what I feel is valuable input and folks will rarely respond to my input. ??? Come on... at least a token, "thanks for stopping by". Does anyone else feel this way? At least I can come here, where I'm loved!

Oh, I think that will look sweet. I didn't realize they would be mounted to the red field. In that case I'd say that they're real close!

I feel alienated here as well at times. I've had pangs of guilt when I've re-read my thread and seen a post by someone that I missed or one that I intended to respond to but then got distracted and forgot about.

I guess it's the nature of this sub forum a little since everyone has their own universe in their thread.

I apologize if I glossed over your posts!

J, I think it's only a reflection of our mostly inconsiderate society. I feel the same guilt as you. Whether or not I like or needed someone's input, they took the time and I feel it's only respectful to acknowledge it. On that note....Love ya Hanes!

Are you going to mount them on posts so they look like they are floating over the red field? You could back light them also so they glow.

The light is currently a rope light in the tray at the bottom. I was thinking of mounting the letters on shims that space them about 1" off the red wall. Maybe even shorter shims on the bottoms of the letters so that the letters are angled towards the floor slightly.

What's your idea for lights behind the letters?
Oh, I think we all feel the same way at times. Our ideas, suggestions, and input get looked over or read and dismissed without so much as a thanks but no thanks. I try very hard not to do this, but I'm sure I have missed a post or three that I did not respond to. Unfortunately it just happens. Sometimes I don't even feel loved in my OWN thread, but I digress.

I think the angling of the letters slightly down is a good idea and if you stand them off from the wall slightly it would lend a more 3D effect as well.

RTROSE
