I just wanted to pop in here to thank Tony for hosting me for a few hours over the weekend and letting me experience his theater!
If you haven't been I want you to know that this room is a treat for the senses
. Photo, video, and narrative aren't enough to explain the quality in the room.
Tony, like any of us, will be quick to discount his own work, point out the "flaws", and tell you what he'd change but for most people this room is enough to make you yearn for watching a movie, playing a game, enjoying some sports, etc.
The entrance that Tony recently crafted is even more impressive in person than in the photos. The sound is clear, transient, and strong. The picture was far greater than I expected, honestly. Keep in mind that Tony is pushing a Panasonic 4000 pretty much at the extreme of its power (14 feet wide!
) yet the picture is fantastic!
What I'm also impressed with is how the room is a destination but it is also a space that was designed from the beginning to be for a family. This theater isn't your typical "man-cave" No Girls Allowed clubhouse. This is a space built for Tony, his wonderful family, and his friends. I think that's what it's all about in the end.
Thanks, Tony! I had a blast and I can't wait to have you up to North Carolina to experience my own attempt.
