Question about PS2 saved game data

I am swapping out my PS3 and want to get my PS2 saved data off. Does a system backup take care of this? If so can I restore that to the new system?

If anything, you should be able to insert a USB memory stick / thumb drive, and copy your PS2 Save Data to that, just to be absolutely sure.
