'Mad Men' on AMC HD - Page 3

Great ending. I assumed Don would take care of business with the neighbor, but I never saw that coming. Fantastic episode overall. I'm really liking this series. Including the complete disdain the senior execs have the for the junior execs. Nice bit with Don and his boss ignoring the fight behind them as they leave for the day.

Very "Soprano-esc." But then that isn't suprising. I loved it!

I'm still laughing at the ending though. what a great mom...

She said the designer's name was Giovanni, not Gianni, although I'm sure the similarity was not a coincidence.

The ending was very cool...reminds me of something my mom would've done in that situation, with the cig in her mouth

My first thought with the introduction of the white pigeons flying away was that it reminded her directly or indirectly of freedom and dreams. When she was dropped from the modeling project (no indication she has any idea it was simply a play for her husband), it was beyond mere disappointment. Given her lack of control over the rest of her life, the modeling gig had been perceived as a lifesaver and it had been jerked away.

She was in no mood for hope and dreams symbolism anymore and took it out on the pigeons.

I'm curious if in the future she will lapse back into frustrated resignation of if some line has been crossed and she'll move in the direction of "I'm not going to take this crap anymore".

Question, I just noticed it tonight, but Mrs. Draper smokes Salem, didn't or don't(I don't smoke any more and never smoked menthol) they have white filters? The one she was smoking in the shrink's office had a brown filter.

Surely they will... they've done it two seasons running now, why not the third?

Alternatively they could roll out AMC-HD for real (which otherwise would be worthless, for its commercials and pan/scan/crop attitude).

I actually have an email reply due me on Monday from my "programming contact" at TWC/LA regarding upcoming HD channel additions and rollout and "Mad Men" OnDemandHD, and if I hear anything about this question I'll pass it on here.

in past seasons, how soon after the broadcast season concludes, do they release the dvd/

7-8 months. Season 2 Blu-Ray only came out about 4 weeks ago.

Any Updates?

I too am a twc customer, and have become a big fan of mad men. Does TWC make the HD OnDemand Mad Men Episode available concurrently with the showing of the low def version on AMC?

I hope so...it just seems that in the past, they would show past episodes on demand. There is nothing there yet. I am DVRing the low def premiere, just in case. And I won't be very happy about it!

AMC sometimes offers an HD on demand version of its two signature shows to TWC, sometimes not. 'Mad Men' was offered last year, 'Breaking Bad' this year was not. No way to tell until it either pops up next week on the HD Showcase On Demand channel, or not. The good news is most TWC divisions now offer AMC-HD.

Any update? It begins tonight...

First episode of the season...
awful, just awful
I didn't think it was awful, just slow. It was setting up the conflict for the new season. I expect it to build from here nicely.
Hmmm, I thought it was great.

Amazing how I can always find people here who think episodes I loved sucked.

Gosh I know that feeling, kucharsk.

I think it was more focused on Emilio Pucci, who was coming into his own internationally in the middle '60s, and the first name reference just made it sound like a young Versace.

I'm not usually one of those people. In fact, this is the first time in 900+ posts I've ever posted something negative about a show. Stillborn baby, Johnny Cakes part deux, and more adultery. Not my idea of a good time. This is one of those shows where you want the flawed protagonist to become a better person... and he never does. I get it. But they can't dangle that carrot forever.
I thought it was a very good premiere, except for the way-too-long man on man kiss -- ewwww (not that there's anything wrong with it). Love the office politics, love the British right-hand-man idea; over all a pretty decent beginning.
I thought it was excellent.

By the way, who carries AMC in HD? We still don't get it on directv, correct?

Would love to see the show in HD.
We get AMC HD on Comcast.
No HD ON Demand TWC?!? Why now?
So, the main problem people had was that the gay stuff made them feel "icky". Wow, no wonder American Idol is #1.

Brilliant show, brilliant episode as always.
I had seen the previous seasons on Blu-ray and this was the first time I saw the show on Comcast. Yuck. Very soft. Nearly every pan had little blocks that would get stuck. At one point there was a green block in Pete's face which followed him as he walked across the screen for a second.

Other than that it was great. I love how slow the show goes. I love how they recall trivial details like people forgetting about their pens before getting on a plane and finding they leaked.

I don't expect "the flawed protagonist to become a better person". My dad never did.

Actually, I hate American Idol, am very liberal, have a gay brother, and yet still can't manage to enjoy watching two men kiss, so sorry you feel that makes me intolerant, somehow. I actually like Salvatore (I think that's his name) and I sympathize with his plight, and I love that he has his own story line, but I will still "feel icky" whenever they show him shoving his tongue down another guy's throat, sorry.

Comcast Spokane WA here, and while they have all s2 qued up, no S3 premier. Just realized we do now get AMC HD on 697, where I'll record MM ep 301 tonight.

I thought the topic is the show itself, not who is showing it in HD on Demand.

We have a lot of threads with similar names:
'Entourage' on HBO HD
Dancing with the Stars...on ABC...in HD!
'Whale Wars' on Animal Planet HD
etc.

All of those threads are about the show, not about the network carrying it. So why would this thread be any different?
